Role Summary

The Associate Director, International Market Access & Pricing - Oncology Pipeline leads pricing governance for on-market assets and translates the value of pipeline assets into pricing, contracting guidance, and sustainable access models. S/he shapes international pricing strategy within the Value & Access Team, using strategic pricing frameworks and advanced modeling, and conducts scenario analyses to optimize price, access, and launch sequencing.

Responsibilities

  • Anticipate and shape the external environment by evaluating new pricing approaches and access models to optimize asset value and patient access across markets.
  • Drive internal strategies to achieve business goals, including alignment with disease-level advocacy and policy objectives.
  • Strategic Pricing: establish price potential for key brands/assets, advise on opportunities to improve patient access, define pricing hypotheses, and conduct scenario analyses with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Inform and shape the integrated access strategy to reflect asset price potential and implications, engaging in governance processes for on-market and pipeline assets.
  • Develop short- and long-term international pricing guidance over asset lifecycles, including early price ranges and pricing corridors, in collaboration with VAT leads and broader VAT.
  • Create contracting guidance, assess new access models, and consider macroeconomic policy dynamics and healthcare system trends.
  • Identify asset value drivers and incorporate healthcare system dynamics, evaluating traditional and innovative pricing and access models.
  • Develop asset indication sequence and country launch optimization, collaborating with VAT leads and HTA leads.
  • Collaborate with MABI to conduct pricing market research using qualitative and quantitative methods to inform international pricing strategy.
  • Support key markets in translating international pricing strategy to local launch success, including localization of pricing scenarios and negotiation strategies.
  • Maintain knowledge of international pricing and access landscape and identify opportunities from competitive, pricing, and commercial perspectives.
  • Operational Pricing: ensure compliance with international pricing governance, review and approve pricing business cases, and provide timely pricing information across planning processes.
  • Develop and implement communication and training plans for pricing guidance as part of Integrated Access Strategy and financial processes.
  • Act as internal Subject Matter Expert on strategic and operational pricing and analytics, providing training as needed.
  • Collaborate with International Pricing analysts on reference price and cross-country analyses to inform LRP and business cases, and optimize country launch sequences.
  • Cultivate and accelerate our culture through leadership feedback, learning objectives, timely delivery of projects, and maintaining cross-functional relationships.

Qualifications

  • Required: Proven healthcare/pharmaceutical experience with finance, pricing, health economics, or market access, with at least 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Required: Demonstrated AbbVie leadership attributes and behaviors, with high competence, confidence, and credibility.
  • Required: Ability to synthesize and critically analyze large information sets, identify risks, and implement solutions.
  • Required: Excellent English communication skills (oral and written) and strong presentation abilities.
  • Required: Ability to manage workload and meet deadlines under time constraints; strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Required: Ability to make decisions with incomplete data and handle ambiguity effectively.
  • Preferred: Knowledge and experience designing international pricing strategies, scenario assessments, and integrated market access strategies; experience with P&R agencies and knowledge of key markets and pricing regulations; understanding of Health Technology Appraisal and health economics fundamentals; ability to communicate value drivers and financial impact; familiarity with data management and pricing tools; degree in Finance, Actuarial Sciences, Statistics, Health Economics, Econometrics, Mathematics, Pharmacy, or related field.
