Role Summary

Associate Director, Innovation. Partner with leaders across AbbVie to optimize the value of the portfolio of current and future assets, driving strategic innovation and delivering high-impact projects across the drug development and commercialization value chain.

Location

North Chicago, IL or South San Francisco, CA offices with a minimum three (3) days onsite hybrid. 25% travel required.

Responsibilities

  • Drive end-to-end strategic innovation and execution on an AbbVie Enterprise Critical asset in partnership with the program-leading Asset Strategy Team and content-focused deliverable teams, covering strategic planning, scenario evaluation, and data-driven problem solving across drug development.
  • Drive end-to-end strategic innovation and execution across AbbVie's highest priority commercial questions with commercial leadership, brand teams and cross-functional stakeholders, including launch planning, portfolio positioning, HCP engagement, patient activation, and market access strategy.
  • Support strategic initiatives addressing mission-critical questions and position AbbVie for future success.
  • Lead modules within complex cross-functional initiatives, manage problem-solving processes for research and analytics, and distill pragmatic recommendations for management.
  • Monitor and prioritize external trends relevant to the enterprise and advise on preparation or response.
  • Help communicate strategy across AbbVie.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (PharmD, PhD, MD, MBA) highly preferred.
  • 6+ years with Bachelor’s, 4+ with Master’s, or 2+ with Doctorate in relevant experience.
  • Professional consulting experience highly preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills; comfortable leading meetings with mid/senior-level management.
  • Experience managing large projects within a complex matrixed pharmaceutical organization, as external consultant or internal cross-functional lead.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage senior leadership to align on strategic vision and facilitate critical decisions.
  • Capability building/change management skills; able to achieve organizational buy-in and lasting change through empathy and coaching.
  • Highly collaborative, with a track record of developing solutions with the business to advance AbbVie’s mission.
  • Drive, energy, and passion to advance AbbVie’s mission.
