Role: Associate Director in Immunology Research leading external innovation and translational efforts for immune-mediated and inflammatory diseases. Responsibilities: evaluate emerging biology, identify novel targets, guide experimental strategies across in vitro, ex vivo, and in vivo models; assess external assets and collaborations; support portfolio strategy by translating scientific data into decision-making; represent the team externally and mentor scientists. Qualifications: PhD in Immunology or related field; 8+ years of industry or translational research experience in inflammatory and autoimmune drug discovery; deep expertise in innate/adaptive immunity, immune signaling, and translational immunology; experience guiding immunological research across multiple platforms. Preferred: biotech/pharma experience, cross-modality knowledge (small molecules, biologics, cell therapies), external collaboration experience, and a broad scientific network. Biopharma specifics: focus on immune-mediated diseases, early to late-stage development, cross-functional collaboration across research, development, business development, and external partners. Location: South San Francisco, CA, onsite with frequent presence required. Senior management level with leadership and strategic influence in immune-oncology and inflammatory disease drug discovery.
