Associate Director – Global Patient Safety (Tech@Lilly)

Key Responsibilities
- Provide project oversight, vendor contract facilitation, and CIR execution; serve as System Custodian for multiple Safety critical systems.
- Lead end-to-end delivery across a primarily SaaS-based portfolio with targeted custom development; ensure scalability, compliance, and alignment with GPS strategic goals.
- Oversee data migration planning and execution from legacy to modern platforms; ensure data integrity, traceability, and audit-readiness.
- Own end-to-end compliance for regulated/operational system requirement changes within Arugs and other Safety systems, aligned to applicable regulatory standards.
- Communicate system/project status, plans, issues, and resolutions with business and Tech@Lilly stakeholders.
- Share best practices and lessons learned; position GPS technology as a center of excellence.
- Build strong relationships with internal service owners, service providers, and supplier managers; maintain quality/value focus in each system release.
- Partner with business and Tech@Lilly leaders to shape technology strategy and influence investment priorities.
- Develop and execute strategy/release plans/business priorities for information delivery.
- Understand the end-to-end GPS portfolio (Case Management, Signal Management & Detection, Safety Reporting) to anticipate integration challenges and guide cross-portfolio decisions.
- Understand and influence customer demand for information services; lead development of quality, resilient specifications for new/improved services.
- Improve core service management efficiency/effectiveness through automation and AI.
- Manage performance via coaching, motivation, performance management, career planning, and talent identification.
- Develop Tech@Lilly area strategies/objectives; drive adoption of best practices and standardized processes.
- Develop business proposals to improve utilization of existing assets and drive value.
- Manage Tech@Lilly people (staffing strategy, capacity, recruiting, hiring) and budgets to meet objectives.
- Prioritize work within the Tech@Lilly project portfolio and reinforce compliance.
- Manage strategic relationships with SaaS providers/implementation partners/service suppliers; drive SLA adherence.
- Conduct vendor performance reviews, contract negotiations, and escalations.
- Evaluate vendor/platform roadmaps and provide thought leadership on emerging capabilities.
- Manage project/team budgets; build/present business cases (value drivers, risk mitigation, ROI) and identify cost optimization opportunities.

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or drug development-related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 5+ years of IT solution delivery experience, including SaaS platform management and/or application development.
- 3 years of people leadership experience with demonstrated success building and developing teams.

Preferred Qualifications / Skills
- Experience delivering solutions in highly regulated GxP and/or GMP environments with audit-readiness requirements.
- Data migration experience: planning, execution, and validation in regulated environments.
- Foundational cloud knowledge (AWS and/or Azure), including hybrid cloud and SaaS deployment models.
- Vendor management experience (contract facilitation, supplier relationship management).
- Financial management experience (budgeting, forecasting, business case development).
- System custodian experience for enterprise systems (updates/maintenance, data integrity/quality, governance/compliance across lifecycle).
- Proven track record leading modernization/platform replacement and delivery of new/legacy support.
- Pharmacovigilance/drug safety/clinical development technology experience (e.g., Adverse Event management, Signal Detection, Safety Reporting).
- Ability to translate business needs into Tech@Lilly systems/processes; strong executive relationship management.
- Strong cross-functional partnership skills across affiliates/regions.
- Experience managing relationships with software/services providers and industry collaborators.
- Ability to think creatively to resolve complex business problems; experience developing budgets/forecasts/financial plans.
- Experience with project management delivery methodologies and iterative release planning.
- AWS or Azure cloud certification (Fundamentals level or above).
