Role Summary

The Associate Director, Finance R&D Clinical Sciences supports the Clinical Sciences Organization in R&D (JAPAC Development, R&D Quality, Data & Statistical Sciences, Epidemiology, Patient Safety, Clinical Pharmacology, and Strategic Operations). They enable strategic planning and execution of short- and long-term Clinical Sciences goals and are responsible for financial planning and analysis related to Plan, Update, LBE, and LRP, supporting strategic initiatives. The Clinical Sciences annual budget exceeds $580 million.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for leading all planning cycles (Plan/Update, LRP and LBE) including meaningful commentary and analysis. Responsible for executive summaries and presentations to senior management/ VPs
  • Responsible for ensuring monthly financial results are delivered accurately and timely and executive summaries with commentary are prepared and delivered to the senior management/VPs
  • Participates in and provides financial analyses for various business initiatives that lend insight into key business drivers enabling management to adapt more appropriate tactics/strategy to meet the LRP objectives
  • Assists with all financial aspects of key functional projects and systems initiatives to ensure finance requirements are implemented appropriately and process efficiencies are realized
  • Manages a staff of 1 person

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of progressive Accounting or Finance experience.
  • Strong financial, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written) and ability to influence without direct authority.
  • Strong project management skills, which includes leadership in organizing, planning, and executing projects from inception to implementation.
  • Self-starter with ability to operate independently, identify and implement process improvements, and adjust priorities to achieve objectives and operate with speed and agility.
  • Ability to work in a matrix organization, build strong partnerships, influence work partners – both business and finance.
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • Knowledge of SAP and BPC.
  • Experience leading a diverse team.

Education

  • BA in Accounting or Finance. CPA or MBA a plus.
