External Manufacturing Operations Associate Director (Ops AD)
Primary Responsibilities:
- Own and serve as primary point of contact for interactions between Manufacturing Division and assigned external manufacturing partners (EPs).
- Establish boundaries/ground rules for EP engagement; ensure compliance/quality readiness via risk assessments and frequent walkthroughs.
- Resolve disputes with appropriate escalation.
- Balance company delivery requirements with contract manufacturers’ production plans; manage materials/logistics and ERP transactions.
- Oversee shop floor production and determine when an ExM functional representative should be deployed to EP facilities.
- Drive continuous improvement.
- Partner with Procurement to identify/select new contract manufacturers and negotiate/terminate supply agreements.
- Collect/present EP capacity information and drive recommendations for capacity expansion.
- Ensure alignment of Supply and Quality agreements.
- Execute ERP transactions for receipt/movement of company-owned inventory; reconcile book-to-physical inventory at EPs; document/witness inventory destruction.
- Ensure supply agreement terms (POs, forecasts, deliveries, invoice payments) are executed compliantly.
- Support continuous improvement with ExM Company Production System experts and other functions.
- Provide project management support to DP NA regional team; coordinate ongoing regional projects.
- Travel up to 50%.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree (Engineering, Medical, Science, Business, or related).
Required Experience/Skills:
- 8+ years in commercial/business and manufacturing (pharma/chemical or related).
- Knowledge of drug substance manufacturing and shop floor/unit operations.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, project management, collaboration, negotiation, analytical, and influencing skills.
- Leadership, teamwork, cultural awareness, English fluency.
Preferred:
- Recent ExM or site operations; knowledge of domestic/foreign regulations/compendia; Lean implementation.
