Role Summary

Associate Director in Epidemiology in Oncology, providing scientific leadership in applying epidemiological methods across all phases of drug development to deliver new oncology therapies more efficiently and effectively to patients.

Responsibilities

  • Develops a network to align an epidemiology program with asset/disease strategy and communicates the impact of epidemiology to stakeholders.
  • Provides expert epidemiological consultation to asset matrix teams (Clinical Development Team, Safety Review Team, Integrated Evidence Team, Medicine Development Team).
  • Acts as an internal expert representing GSK in scientific discussions with governance bodies and external regulators/conferences with support.
  • Accountable for R&D real-world evidence generation for an asset program.
  • Brings RWE insights to inform development activities for an asset strategy.
  • Proposes and negotiates content of epidemiologic program and budget with matrix leader.
  • Leads epidemiological studies and negotiates new partnerships.
  • Identifies new vendors, tools and data sources to deliver epidemiology solutions for the asset program.
  • Contributes to strategic and departmental initiatives driving innovative tools, methodologies or processes.
  • Identifies innovative, timely, and cost-effective methods to conduct epidemiologic studies.
  • Communicates study findings to relevant internal and external audiences.
  • Inputs into submission documents to regulatory agencies as required.

Qualifications

  • Required: Doctoral degree (PhD, ScD or DrPH) in epidemiology (preferred) or a relevant discipline such as health services research, health outcomes research, public health, statistics, or pharmaceutical sciences.
  • Required: 1+ years of epidemiology experience.
  • Required: Experience operating in a matrix environment with independent delivery of increasingly complex epidemiological studies including regulatory requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated epidemiological expertise with ability to influence internal and external stakeholders on robust and strategic epidemiological approaches.
  • Strong written, verbal, and listening skills.
  • Self-motivated, capable of working independently and effectively in multi-disciplinary matrix teams.
  • Proven problem-solver with ability to apply epidemiological principles to complex situations.
  • Ability to work in a global matrix environment, manage priorities, and organize multiple tasks.
  • Ability to relay complex real-world study information to cross-functional teams and non-technical audiences.
