Role Summary

The Associate Director, Enterprise, Executive & Corporate Communications supports the communications strategy aimed at protecting and promoting the reputation of the organization while assisting the commercial agenda by fostering relations with internal and external audiences to positively position Novo Nordisk in the United States. This role collaborates to implement communication activities that connect U.S. Operations employees with Novo Nordisk's purpose, strategy, values, and brand, aligning efforts with the organization’s strategic direction and leadership. It provides strategic communications support to the U.S. Operations Executive Team by shaping objectives, plans, and tactics that reflect the commercial agenda and culture, contributes to employee engagement, supports change communications initiatives, and helps activate the Corporate Narrative and thought leadership content for executives.

Responsibilities

  • Enterprise Communications:
    • Support the positioning of the company and its leaders among employees, clarifying purpose, goals, and values
    • Contribute to strategic planning and execution of the employee communications and engagement plan
    • Align Enterprise, Leadership, and Functional communications efforts
    • Support change communication initiatives related to organizational changes
    • Develop and distribute messaging that is transparent, objective, timely, and empathetic
    • Evaluate enterprise-wide communications programs and recommend adjustments
    • Promote the Novo Nordisk Way through messaging and channel utilization
    • Ensure message consistency across the organization and with Global communications
    • Support leadership forums and develop tools/resources to promote strategy uptake and engagement
  • Executive Communications:
    • Member of the Executive Communications Center of Excellence, aligning with Enterprise messaging and thought leadership
    • Provide tailored support to the U.S. Operations Executive Team
    • Offer guidance to senior leadership for internal and external communications
    • Coach leaders to enhance communication effectiveness
  • Corporate Communications:
    • Position the company positively among external audiences
    • Develop executive thought leadership topics, themes, and trends
    • Support execution of the U.S. thought leadership roadmap
    • Collaborate to integrate key brand messages within external communications
    • Use knowledge of the business to inform decision-making in communications
    • Contribute to proactive and reactive communications aligned with the commercial agenda

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required in journalism, public relations, English or a related communications discipline
  • 10+ years of progressively increasing communications experience
  • Ability to demonstrate business acumen and work across all levels of the business
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of management
  • Proven experience in strategic planning and counseling, executive/leadership communications, employee engagement programs, business and news writing, and communications measurement
  • Expert ability to lead content strategy, key message development, conversational writing and editing for internal and external audiences
  • Proven ability to manage projects and influence individuals, teams and stakeholders
  • Ability to counsel and coach executives for internal and external communication needs
  • Ability to work under tight timelines in high-pressure environments
