About the Position:
Edgewise Therapeutics is committed to building a patient focused organization that brings the patient voice to all aspects of our work. Engaging with patient communities and advocacy organizations throughout the drug development cycle is critical to developing potential therapies that meet the unmet medical needs of the patients. The Associate Director will develop strategic and tactical partnership plans with the global Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) patient community and the internal team to partner on shared priorities and accelerate drug development of our therapeutic candidates. The Associate Director will seek to understand the disease burden and unmet needs of the communities in which we work and share these insights with the organization to ensure strategic alignment in our decision making. This role will have an externally facing component, including engagement with patients, advocacy organizations and other key stakeholders, and will be expected to work collaboratively across the organization. The Associate Director will report to the Vice President, Patient Advocacy and External Innovation and together with the Director, Patient Advocacy, they will foster valued and collaborative relationships with the communities to establish Edgewise as a trusted partner.
Essential Job Duties and Functions:
- Develop, maintain and grow relationships with the global patient communities in which we work, focusing on HCM, to establish Edgewise as a trusted partner and align on programmatic priorities.
- Assist with the development and execution of Edgewiseβs global advocacy strategy focusing on developing messaging and partnering on initiatives with patient advisory groups.
- Create, manage, and execute on advocacy programs to support Edgewiseβs global advocacy and communication objectives.
- Seek to understand the evolving HCM landscape by insight gathering from PAGs, patients and clinicians.
- Manage primary, day-to-day contact with PAGs ensuring transparent and effective communications. Work cross-functionally to ensure PAGs are supported.
- Oversee organizational and logistical planning support for external advocacy meetings including staffing, booth/material logistics, processing and tracking CDAs, LOAs, invoices and expenses.
- Lead development of communication materials such as presentations, abstracts, and other meeting materials as assigned.
- Work together with and be part of the advocacy team in preparing for and managing large advocacy meetings, external patient advisory boards and internal initiatives.
- Manage HCM advocacy social media/corporate website strategy, working cross functionally to create content, manage med/legal review and manage calendar.
- Co-lead patient advocacy strategy to ensure patient centricity is part of the internal culture at Edgewise.
- Passionately represent the patient voice to internal and external stakeholders.
- Read, understand, and comply with all workplace health and safety policies; safe work practices; and company policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Required Education, Experience and Skills:
- Bachelorβs degree with 10+ years of progressive industry/relevant professional experience or 7+ years of patient advocacy experience.
- Broad knowledge of the biopharma industry; working knowledge of drug development, HEOR, product launch, access and reimbursement, and commercialization.
- Superb communication skills, tact, composure, and confidentiality to coordinate complex patient issues, manage sensitive information, and participate in key inter-departmental interactions.
- Robust knowledge of current compliance, legal, regulatory and other issues that impact the biopharmaceutical industry and its protocol for patient engagement.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills, ability to successfully influence without authority, and effectively work across functions and personalities.
- Impeccable personal character and high integrity.
- Ability to work well under pressure and enjoy a fast-paced, sometimes unpredictable environment.
- Excellent project, vendor, and budget management to deliver business results.
- Require travel up to 20%.
Preferred Experience:
- Knowledge of and experience in the HCM community.
- Experience managing product launches and life cycle management.
- Experience with and established relationships with relevant advocacy thought leaders.
- Experience with broader healthcare public relations and communications.
Salary range: $135,000 - $180,000, title and salary commensurate with experience.
