Role Summary

Associate Director, Digital Product Stewardship – Chemistry

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the chemistry domain steward for digital products supporting AF endpoints, ensuring alignment with enterprise data governance and digital strategy.
  • Partner with product owners and platform teams to define requirements for compound registration, ELN, LIMS, and assay data systems.
  • Champion the adoption of digital tools and workflows that enhance data quality, traceability, and reusability across the chemistry value chain.
  • Define and maintain standards for compound, reaction, and assay metadata in alignment with FAIR principles.
  • Collaborate with ontology and metadata leads to ensure consistent use of controlled vocabularies and identifiers (e.g., GUPRI).
  • Monitor data quality and integrity across systems, coordinating remediation efforts as needed.
  • Act as a liaison between medicinal chemists, informatics, IT, and data governance teams to surface pain points and co-create solutions.
  • Support onboarding, training, and change management for new digital capabilities within chemistry teams.
  • Represent chemistry needs in enterprise-wide digital forums and AF governance bodies.
  • Translate AF program goals into actionable digital and data priorities for chemistry.
  • Contribute to the roadmap for digital chemistry capabilities, including AI/ML readiness and integration with translational endpoints.
  • Track and report on key performance indicators related to data stewardship, system adoption, and user satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (PhD or MS) in Chemistry, Cheminformatics, or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in pharmaceutical R&D, with at least 3 years in digital product stewardship, informatics, or data governance roles.
  • Deep understanding of medicinal chemistry workflows, compound data lifecycle, and cheminformatics tools (e.g., ChemAxon, Revvity, Certara).
  • Poveen experience implementing or supporting ELN, LIMS, compound registration, or SDMS platforms.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills across scientific, technical, and business domains.
  • Familiarity with FAIR data principles, regulatory compliance, and data privacy in R&D settings.

Skills

  • Experience with ontology development, metadata modeling, or semantic data integration.
  • Exposure to AI/ML applications in drug discovery.
  • Track record of leading cross-functional digital initiatives in matrixed organizations.

Education

  • Advanced degree (PhD or MS) in Chemistry, Cheminformatics, or related field.
