In This Role, You Will
- Drive Target Discovery: Evaluate molecular evidence for target nomination/validation using Recursionโ€™s platform to identify novel disease vulnerabilities.
- Lead and mentor data scientists and computational biologists; foster rigor, bold experimentation, delivery, and growth.
- Pilot novel methods for target discovery, disease biology validation, and early patient population hypotheses.
- Define internal criteria for target data packages and early patient population strategy.
- Collaborate with platform/engineering teams to solve current projects and accelerate future ones.
- Partner cross-functionally (biologists, medicinal chemists, translational/clinical leads) to build data packages that drive milestones and portfolio decisions.
- Present analyses to external stakeholders clearly and persuasively.

The Experience Youโ€™ll Need
- PhD (computational biology/bioinformatics/cancer biology/immuno-oncology, etc.) with strong computational focus and 3+ years biotech/pharma early drug discovery experience, OR MS with 5+ years.
- Domain expertise in oncology or immunological diseases.
- Strong understanding of patient genetics and pathway druggability.
- Experience using computational methods (probabilistic/statistical/ML) to integrate complex biological and/or clinical data using Python or R.
- Exceptional data visualization.
- Track record managing/developing direct reports.
- Excellent cross-functional communication.

Nice To Have
- Building a target discovery engine; CRISPR/small-molecule perturbation screening; exposure to translational/clinical development.

Working Location & Compensation
- Hybrid office-based role; Salt Lake City, Utah (in-office at least 50%).
- Base salary: $200,000โ€“$220,500; eligible for annual bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits package.
