Responsibilities:
- Lead teams in strategically planning and implementing mechanistic models of molecular and cellular processes in the lung, including regulation of vasoconstriction and bronchoconstriction, response to hypoxia, toxicity to airways/alveoli, and initiation/resolution of inflammation and fibrosis
- Provide expertise in evaluating innovative approaches for mechanistic modeling (e.g., AI-enabled model development, multiscale coupling, in silico trials, regenerative medicine)
- Define, evolve, and execute a technical strategy with internal subject matter experts to apply model-informed drug development across the company
- Build and manage collaborations with external partners to generate data for model training/validation
- Coordinate computational biologists and engineers to build HPC workflows for multiscale models bridging organ physiology with cell- and molecular-level processes
- Advance company-wide uptake of computational modeling by developing simulation tools and interfaces in partnership with other R&D teams
- Communicate results via internal/external presentations and peer-reviewed publications
- Direct and manage team (goal setting, performance reviews, coaching/mentoring, career development)
- All other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:
- PhD in engineering, applied mathematics, systems biology, or related field
- 7+ years’ mechanistic modeling experience in the pharmaceutical industry
- Experience leading/developing/mentoring team members
- Experience with bioinformatics/systems biology databases and tools
- Expertise in systems biology modeling formalisms (differential equation, logic-based, or agent-based)
- Expertise in pharmaceutical modeling/simulation (QSP or PBPK)
- Advanced numerical methods knowledge (ODE/PDE solving, optimization, Monte Carlo)
- Fluency in Python, R, Julia, and/or MATLAB
- Knowledge of molecular/cellular biology and drug development
- Ability to communicate effectively to technical and non-technical audiences

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience analyzing large-scale genomic/transcriptomic datasets
- Strong data visualization skills (e.g., R Shiny or d3.js)
- Statistical and machine learning skills
- Knowledge of pulmonary physiology

Job Location/Work Schedule:

Salary Range:
- $180,500 - $240,000 per year.
