Associate Director - Capital Project Procurement

Role Summary

Associate Director-Capital Project Procurement Leader within Lilly's Global Manufacturing Procurement Capital & Infrastructure team. The role plans, sources, and drives strategies related to manufacturing capital, with a principal focus on North America. You will lead sourcing and purchasing of engineering, construction, automation, and capital equipment, applying Lilly's Strategic Sourcing Process to deliver maximum value within the required timeframe, while managing internal client relationships and supplier performance to reduce supply risk.

Responsibilities

• Category management including global development, implementation, and management of Lilly’s strategy for the acquisition of engineering and construction services, automation, and capital equipment.
• Lead the review of requirements, development of sourcing strategies, and management of the supplier due diligence process, RFP oversight, contract negotiation and award, and oversight of the contract management process.
• Negotiate agreements and contracts so that costs and risks are minimized, while achieving project objectives.
• Work in conjunction with business clients to qualify suppliers, contribute in supplier relationship management meetings, spend analysis, market intelligence and risk management.
• Sourcing for major capital projects (> $5MM) at Lilly’s global manufacturing sites to acquire goods and services ($100MM - $300MM annually).
• Leads the procurement management for major/mega projects and programs with greater risk, resource/financial requirements and/or complexity.
• Assemble the procurement strategy for capital project which ensure delivery of business objectives.
• Lead supplier management which consists of facilitating the relationship between internal customers and suppliers.
• Identify and implement cost/risk reduction and avoidance savings opportunities of $5M or more annually.
• Deliver project procurement activities in accordance with both Global Procurement procedures with strong focus on competitive bidding, ensuring recommendations are based on the most competitive technical and commercial acceptable sources.

Qualifications

• Required: 7 or more years in capital project experience.
• Required: Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; Lilly will not sponsor work authorization or visas.
• Preferred: Proven track record in sourcing engineering and construction services, capital equipment, and experience with commissioning/qualification.
• Preferred: Process or plant experience.
• Preferred: $500MM+ mega capital project support.
• Preferred: Excellent written and spoken English; strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Preferred: CIPS / IIPMM / ISM qualification and/or relevant Procurement experience.
• Preferred: IT literacy with Microsoft Office suite and SAP/Ariba.
• Preferred: Ability to influence and negotiate internally and externally.
• Preferred: Analytical and problem-solving skills with business acumen.
• Preferred: Self-motivated and able to act independently in a complex multi-organizational environment while maintaining prioritization and compliance with policies and procedures.

• Bachelors Degree, preferably in Procurement, Engineering, Manufacturing, or Supply Chain Business
