Role Summary

Associate Director-Capital Project Procurement leads sourcing and purchasing for manufacturing capital, applying the Lilly Strategic Sourcing Process to deliver value within timeframes. Responsible for capital project delivery, supplier evaluation, contracting, and internal/external relationship management to develop cost-effective sourcing strategies and reduce supply risk.

Responsibilities

  • Category management for engineering and construction services, automation, and capital equipment.
  • Develop sourcing strategies, oversee supplier due diligence, RFPs, contract negotiation and award, and contract management.
  • Negotiate agreements to minimize costs and risks while meeting project objectives.
  • Collaborate with business clients to qualify suppliers, participate in supplier relationship meetings, conduct spend analysis, gather market intelligence, and manage risk.
  • Source for major capital projects (> $5MM) at global manufacturing sites with $100MM - $300MM annually in goods/services.
  • Lead procurement management for major/mega projects with high risk/complexity.
  • Assemble procurement strategy to ensure delivery of business objectives.
  • Lead supplier management and internal-external relationship facilitation.
  • Identify and implement cost/risk reduction opportunities of $5M or more annually.
  • Deliver procurement activities in accordance with Global Procurement procedures with emphasis on competitive bidding and sourcing of technically and commercially acceptable suppliers.

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelorβ€šΓ„Γ΄s degree in Procurement, Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, or related field; 7+ years in capital project experience; authorized to work in the United States (no sponsorship).
  • Preferred: Experience sourcing for capital projects in pharmaceutical or similar industries; experience with mega capital projects ($500MM+); CIPS/IIPMM/ISM qualification; strong IT literacy (MS Office, SAP/Ariba); excellent written/verbal communication; ability to influence and negotiate; analytical/problem-solving skills; independent, proactive work style in a multi-organizational environment.
