Role Summary
Associate Director-Capital Project Procurement Leader at Lilly, driving planning, sourcing, and strategies related to manufacturing capital. Lead sourcing and purchasing of goods and services to contribute to internal client organizations and maintain Lilly’s competitive position in the global pharmaceutical industry. Apply the Lilly Strategic Sourcing Process to deliver maximum value within required timeframes, with experience leading major capital projects, evaluating suppliers, and negotiating domestic and international supply agreements. Located in Virginia and/or other Lilly sites, with a focus on North America.
Responsibilities
- Category management including global development, implementation, and management of Lilly’s strategy for the acquisition of engineering and construction services, automation, and capital equipment.
- Lead the review of requirements, development of sourcing strategies, and management of the supplier due diligence process, RFP process oversight, contract negotiation and award, and oversight of the contract management process.
- Negotiate agreements and contracts so that costs and risks are minimized, while achieving project objectives.
- Work with business clients to qualify suppliers, contribute in supplier relationship management meetings, spend analysis, market intelligence and risk management.
- Sourcing for major capital projects (> $5MM) at Lilly’s global manufacturing sites to acquire goods and services ($100MM - $300MM annually).
- Leads the procurement management for major/mega projects and programs with greater risk, resource/financial requirements and/or complexity.
- Assemble the procurement strategy for capital projects to ensure delivery of business objectives.
- Lead supplier management, facilitating the relationship between internal customers and suppliers.
- Identify and implement cost/risk reduction and avoidance savings opportunities of $5M or more annually.
- Deliver project procurement activities in accordance with Global Procurement procedures with a strong focus on competitive bidding and sourcing that is technically and commercially acceptable.
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor Degree in Procurement, Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain or related field; or Bachelor Degree in any subject with relevant industry experience.
- Required: 7 or more years in capital project experience.
- Required: Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis (no visa sponsorship).
- Preferred: Proven track record in sourcing engineering and construction services, capital equipment and experience with commissioning/qualification.
- Preferred: Process or plant experience; experience with $500MM+ mega capital projects; excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication; IT literacy (Microsoft Office, SAP/Ariba); relevant certifications (CIPS / IIPMM / ISM); ability to influence and negotiate; strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently in a complex, multi-organizational environment with compliance to policies.
Education
- Bachelor Degree in Procurement, Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Business-related field, or related equivalent with relevant industry experience
Additional Requirements
- Travel: Ability to travel 10% - 25% as needed to support sourcing initiatives and supplier relationship management activities
