Associate Director, Business Insights & Analytics (BI&A) – Pipeline & Business Development

Location: San Rafael, CA (Hybrid; requires 2 days onsite)

Key Responsibilities:
- Partner with Pipeline Commercial Strategy (PCS/pipeline) and BD teams to frame key business questions, investigate and synthesize insights, translate findings into strategic implications for brand/asset evaluation, and guide prioritization of focus and resources.
- Design and deliver qualitative and quantitative market research projects using third-party vendors; provide consultative/integrating support for locally led projects.
- Provide context and insights to support PCS preparations for governance committees and leadership reporting (e.g., commercial business reviews, earnings narrative, Portfolio Strategy Reviews).
- Assess commercial, clinical, and scientific competitive dynamics and threats; recommend insights engagements to guide business decisions and inform strategies.
- Establish and run a cohesive pipeline/BD insights and analytics plan and calendar across cross-functional partners.
- Maintain a pipeline/BD knowledge management library capturing enterprise insights-generation activities.
- Deliver objective, insight-driven guidance by combining rigorous analytics with compelling storytelling.
- Stay current on emerging insights and analytics capabilities; evaluate and introduce new approaches that add strategic value.
- Lead insights/analytics procurement, contracting, and project execution aligned with BI&A best practices and policies.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Passion for improving patient and business outcomes.
- BA/BS in science or business required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- 7+ years’ experience in a commercial capability within pharma/biotech or life sciences/strategy consulting; 4+ years in market research and analytics.
- Experience understanding brand asset/content, strategy, and tactics.
- Ability to utilize dashboards and data products to derive insights.
- Understanding of primary and secondary research methodologies; experience managing vendors.
- Proven ability to connect, integrate, and synthesize analysis into actionable β€œso what” recommendations; ability to communicate relevant data/model caveats.
- Excellent interpersonal skills; collaborative, stakeholder-focused project leadership.
- Strong leadership and decision-making.
- Self-starter with solution-oriented, positive approach.
- Excellent written/oral communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
