Purpose
- Associate Director, Brand Partnerships Communications will shape and execute integrated partnership and communications initiatives that elevate AbbVieโs brand, strengthen stakeholder connections, and drive business objectives. Create earned media opportunities and compelling narratives for corporate brand partnerships across priority audiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead internal and external communications for key partnership moments (announcements, activations, major milestones).
- Develop and implement proactive earned media strategies tied to corporate partnerships, sponsorships, special events, and enterprise initiatives.
- Partner with Corporate Brand Partnerships (and agency/properties) on annual planning and activation (e.g., Chicago Cubs, Major League Baseball, and future partners).
- Create short- and long-term storytelling strategies connecting partnerships to reputation and business goals for employees and external audiences.
- Identify and amplify stories/messages through earned media, social media, influencers, executive communications, and activations.
- Build and maintain relationships with journalists/media partners and external stakeholders.
- Track initiatives, contribute to leadership materials, and advise on additional proactive enterprise storytelling opportunities.
Qualifications
- Bachelorโs degree in communications, business, journalism, or related field.
- 10+ years in communications and media relations (agency or in-house) driving external communications for large global companies.
- Healthcare/pharmaceutical experience a plus.
- Sports/entertainment vertical experience a plus.
- Ability to develop materials for senior leaders; influence without authority in a matrixed environment.
- Excellent written/verbal communication, attention to detail; strong business judgment; effective management; proactive, highly organized.
