Role Summary

Associate Compensation & Benefits Tax Counsel. This role reports to the VP Compensation & Benefits Tax Counsel and provides high-level technical tax and legal advice to management in the administration of the companyβ€šΓ„Γ΄s worldwide employee compensation and benefit plans.

Responsibilities

  • Advise management regarding tax and legal requirements in areas including qualified retirement plans, stock based compensation, employee welfare benefit plans, employee fringe benefits, mergers, acquisitions & divestitures, plan asset investments, and executive compensation matters.
  • Advise on payroll withholding and reporting matters and other global employee compensation and benefits matters.
  • Ensure compliance with laws and regulations applicable to employee compensation and benefits.

Qualifications

  • Required: Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
  • Required: Minimum of one active state (or District of Columbia) bar admission.
  • Required: Minimum of 10 years of experience at a law firm, accounting firm, and/or major corporation advising on a wide variety of employee compensation & benefits tax and legal matters.
  • Required: Working knowledge of internal revenue code provisions applicable to taxation of employee compensation and benefits and ERISA.
  • Required: Experience advising on compensation and benefits matters in mergers, acquisitions, and divestiture transactions.
  • Required: Experience advising on plan asset investment matters.
  • Required: Excellent business partnering and communication skills, with the ability to explain highly technical matters to management.

Preferred Skills

  • Exposure to and general knowledge of laws of some major non-U.S. jurisdictions regarding employee compensation and benefit matters, reporting and withholding, and employee location compliance (preferred).

Education

  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school (Required).
