Role Summary
The Associate Automation Engineer supports installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of automated processes and facility-related equipment under supervision. The role focuses on coordinating field installations, start-up, calibration, commissioning, and ongoing automation improvements to optimize production efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, service, and repair computerized systems and robotic devices designed to reduce human interaction, under supervision.
- Perform hands-on field installation, operational start-up, calibration, and commissioning activities under close supervision.
- Support field technicians, robotics technicians, production support technicians, and maintenance technicians.
- Improve and monitor automation processes for optimum cost efficiency of production under close supervision.
- Support installation and troubleshooting of control systems to automate equipment across upstream and downstream processes, including mixers, coaters, pouchers, cartoners, packaging lines, laboratory equipment, facility systems, stability chambers, BMS, CIP, SIP, water system controls, tablet press, fluid bed dryers, granulators, and vision systems.
- Read, verify, and draft P&ID, engineering layout, drawings, and documents; understand electrical schematics and wiring.
- Monitor automated systems, isolate problems, and perform repairs under close supervision.
- Assist with design, programming, simulation, and testing of automated machinery and processes; assist with PLC control system design, upgrade, and troubleshooting; assist with field commissioning and execution of automation projects; assist with training coworkers on equipment use.
- Provide 24x7 on-call automation support, including technical support and troubleshooting functions.
- Knowledge of PLC and HMI programming (e.g., Rockwell, Siemens).
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) in Automation Technology, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical or Mechatronics; 1β3 years of experience in hydraulics, pneumatics, PLCs, electrical circuits, electrical machinery, and HMI within industrial/manufacturing environments (food or pharmaceutical facilities).
- Preferred: Masterβs Degree (MS/MA) in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering; certifications in automation systems; experience as Electrical/Mechanical/Electronics Engineer.
Skills
- Strong mathematical and analytical abilities to understand automated systems and isolate problems.
- Proficiency with instruments and hand tools, including electrical multimeters.
Education
- Bachelors Degree (BA/BS) in Automation Technology, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical or Mechatronics (Required).
- Master Degree (MS/MA) in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or Electrical & Electronics Engineering (Preferred).
