Position Description/Summary
- Associate Director, Discovery & Translational Portfolio Management. Partner with Therapeutic Area and functional leadership to plan and execute discovery, preclinical, translational pharmacology, development, and in-line portfolio efforts for early-stage assets.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead portfolio management for early-stage programs (discovery through IND/Ph1), owning the integrated TA portfolio view (timing, milestones, risks, dependencies).
- Translate portfolio strategy into actionable plans and execution.
- Prepare regular reports/presentations for senior management and governance committees with clear, data-driven insights.
- Capture and communicate portfolio metrics (resources, site distribution, development phases) and translate into actionable insights.
- Provide organizational/process expertise; collaborate across functional/support and alliance partner teams (if applicable).
- Manage/administer strategic cross-functional/cross-divisional governance or alliance committees.
- Surface portfolio risks, trade-offs, and opportunities; drive stakeholder alignment.
- Mentor/coach Specialist/Senior Specialist portfolio/project managers.
- Train and develop; partner with Finance for resource/budget planning; collaborate with IT/PMO on portfolio tools/dashboards.
- Identify and implement best practices to improve portfolio management and governance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (scientific/applied strongly preferred).
- 5+ years project/portfolio management or related.
Preferred Qualifications
- MS/PhD/MBA; pharma/biotech discovery/preclinical/early development experience.
- PMP/PfMP and/or related training.
Travel
- 5–10%.
