Role Summary
Senior technical and product leader for pilot plant and manufacturing-facing research automation platforms. Own plant automation technology end-to-end (concept/design through validation, deployment, support, and lifecycle management), with hands-on leadership for system integration, cybersecurity, and regulated operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and own strategy for pilot plant and plant-facing research automation platforms.
- Act as technical lead/SPOC for plant automation solutions for capital end project deployments.
- Translate business/scientific/manufacturing needs into platform roadmaps and execution plans.
- Lead OT architecture, infrastructure design, and system integration across plant environments.
- Ensure secure, compliant OT networking aligned with ISA/IEC 62443.
- Integrate plant automation with enterprise platforms (PI, MES, data platforms).
- Lead/approve system design, architecture decisions, and technical standards.
- Manage capital/non-capital execution (scope, estimates, delivery timelines) and adherence to SDLC, change control, validation, and GxP.
- Partner with Quality, Engineering, Infrastructure, Security, and vendors; lead incident escalation, root-cause analysis, and remediation.
- Drive continuous improvement, obsolescence management, modernization; mentor R3 engineers/contractors; communicate status/risks/roadmap.
Qualifications
- 8+ years in automation/OT infrastructure/plant automation systems.
- Strong experience with DeltaV, PLCs, Ignition, SCADA, and MES.
- Hands-on OT networking (firewalls, VLANs, segmented architectures); virtualized OT (VMware/Hyper-V).
- Experience integrating plant systems with enterprise IT.
- Leadership in regulated (GxP) environments; strong SDLC/validation/change management.
Education
- Bachelorโs in Automation, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (Masterโs preferred).
