Role Overview
- Provide technical and regulatory leadership to implement environmental and safety programs required by federal, state, and local laws and company policies.
- Set direction and lead planning, development, and periodic review of site safety and industrial hygiene programs.
- Drive the industrial hygiene program and help establish a robust chemical management program.

Main Responsibilities
- Plan, develop, and implement EHS programs to ensure continuous compliance.
- Drive continuous improvement to strengthen EHS/Sustainability and close assessment gaps.
- Investigate and mitigate environmental, health, safety, and sustainability risks.
- Ensure comprehensive EHS change management for ongoing compliance.
- Develop EHS training content/matrix, conduct training, and minimize risk.
- Coach operations leaders; integrate safety/environment management systems across operations.
- Ensure required reports are completed for site/division/corporate and regulatory agencies.
- Identify and communicate budgetary and capital needs for EHS initiatives.
- Interface with local governmental safety/environment agencies.
- Lead exposure assessments and monitoring (chemical, physical, biologics agents).
- Design/implement/validate containment strategies; perform risk assessments and support cleaning validation.
- Advise on high-potency spill response, decontamination protocols, and emergency drills (including post-event validation sampling).
- Support design reviews, commissioning, and startup via MOC; advise/support environmental permitting and compliance.
- Mentor/develop talent.

Education
- Required: Bachelor’s in environmental science, occupational health & safety, engineering, or related technical field.
- Preferred: Master’s; certifications (CSP, CIH, CHMM, PE).

Required Experience & Skills
- 8+ years EHS in chemical/biotech/pharma manufacturing.
- Experience developing/managing EHS programs and change management.
- Deep compliance experience; strong manufacturing-process understanding.
- Respiratory/PPE selection competence.
- Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, ISO, NFPA.
- Risk assessment/mitigation and industrial hygiene program experience (high-potency operations; IH plans/sampling/containment/cleaning efficacy; isolators, LEV, negative-pressure rooms, barrier/airlocks; task-based exposure assessments; SOPs and audit documentation).

Preferred Experience & Skills
- 2–3+ years in pharmaceutical manufacturing; strong understanding of biological safety, emergency response/preparedness, chemical management, and high-risk work programs.
