Purpose:
The Assistant Project Planner assists with the development of project plans for Asset Development Teams (ADT) using standardized project management tools and processes to support decision making across drug development teams and the R&D portfolio, facilitating ADT communications with Managers and Directors.

Responsibilities:
- Provide basic project management support to drug development projects, including action item tracking and organization/communication of team materials (e.g., meeting minutes, SharePoint sites).
- Support development of multiple project planning scenarios with ADT members; assist with identification, monitoring, and analysis of business risks.
- Recognize when corrective action and planning are necessary; assist with root cause analysis and escalate recommendations to Managers.
- Identify opportunities to improve departmental work processes and collaborate on implementing solutions; apply basic project management principles and prioritize tasks.
- Support Project Managers with monthly project plan maintenance and information reporting; enter data for change requests; use QC reports to ensure accurate project information.
- Compile and provide routine standard reports monthly and on an ad hoc basis; address conflicting/incorrect data before publication; assist with collection/analysis of project and process metrics; help develop guidelines and checklists.
- Provide training support, administration, and guidance on project management practices/systems to departmental staff and clients using Project Office tools.
- Establish and maintain strong networks within the department and with external clients; interact with Managers and Directors to support coordination.
- Assess performance against plans/processes to determine effectiveness and recommend process improvements.

Qualifications:
- Bachelorโ€™s degree required (technical, scientific, or project management related); Masterโ€™s or Doctorate preferred.
- Preferred: Accreditation in project management or process improvement (e.g., PMP, Lean Six Sigma).
- 2+ years professional experience in project management, system-based processes, or pharmaceutical/biotech.
- Self-directed team player; able to manage multiple projects concurrently; excellent oral and written communication; process-oriented; able to convert goals to tasks and estimate time/requirements; initiative.
- Ability to distinguish general vs. confidential/sensitive information.
- Preferred: experience/awareness of project management and/or business excellence tools/techniques; proficient technology skills (e.g., MS Office, MS Project, QlikView, Spotfire).
