Job Description / Capsule Lead strategic communications that protect and enhance the companyâs reputation, support business objectives, and engage stakeholders across media, employees, investors, patients, partners. Key responsibilities Strategy and planning: Develop and execute integrated communications plans aligned to corporate strategy, reputation goals, and priority initiatives Media relations: Hold good experience of working with the media fraternity (pharmaceutical industry experience will be preferred). Build and manage relationships with journalists and outlets; leverage expert agencies optimally and monitor conversations, identify risks, produce insights to optimize work, craft and pitch stories; prepare spokespeople; manage press releases, media briefings, and interviews. Define KPIs; track media coverage, sentiment, and engagement; produce dashboards and insights to optimize strategy. Social media management: Own corporate social strategy and execution across social media channels. Plan editorial calendars, publish content, manage community engagement, and coordinate rapid response. Define channel roles, tone of voice, and moderation policies; ensure accessibility, brand consistency, and compliance with regulations and review processes. Issues and crisis communications: Monitor risks, prepare holding statements and Q&As, manage escalation, and lead response plans in partnership with Business, Legal, Compliance, and Risk. Executive communications & Stakeholder alignment: Partner closely with leadership to build their communications, industry presence and navigate through change management, engagement and relationship building as and when needed across multiple functions. Collaborate with Corporate Affairs sub-functions (Public Affairs, Patient Advocacy, IR), Therapy Area teams, and regional affiliates to ensure coherent storytelling and campaign building. Content and channels: Create high-quality narratives, messaging, and assets for web, social, intranet, and owned media; ensure brand voice and visual identity consistency. Partner with Marketing to plan and execute paid campaigns, target audiences, manage budgets, and A/B test creatives; ensure measurement and attribution align to reputation and engagement goals. Governance and compliance: Ensure materials meet regulatory, legal, and medical review requirements; manage approvals and records. Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience Education: Minimum Bachelorâs Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or related field; advanced degree is a plus. Experience: 8-10 years in corporate communications, agency, or related functions; experience in highly regulated industries (e.g., biopharma, healthcare) is beneficial. Expertise: Reputation management, media relations, executive comms, internal comms, issues/crisis, content strategy, and digital/social. Skills: Exceptional writing and storytelling, stakeholder management, project leadership, analytical measurement, and vendor/agency oversight, team player. Tools: Familiarity with media monitoring platforms, social listening, content management systems, and analytics dashboards. Why AstraZeneca?
