Key Responsibilities:
- Lead highly complex and significantly impactful patent enforcement initiatives.
- Develop and execute litigation strategy across jurisdictions, with a focus on the United States and Europe.
- Represent the company at meetings, hearings, and trials.
- Manage competing priorities in a global legal/regulatory/scientific environment; provide input and strategy into foreign proceedings (e.g., European Patent Office, United Kingdom, German, Unified Patent Court).
- Interface with company leadership, including General Counsel and senior business/legal employees.
- Communicate effectively and build teamwork among enforcement/defense stakeholders; drive key learnings back into the department.
- Work closely with external counsel and internal stakeholders to develop and drive overall worldwide litigation strategy; ensure compliance with company policies and drive cost savings.
- Provide innovative, creative solutions to complex legal issues.
- Drive AI solutions for litigation management and outcomes.
Basic Qualifications:
- Qualified U.S. attorney; JD degree required.
- 8+ years of significant experience with complex patent litigation in biotechnology and/or pharmaceutical industries.
- Experience at a major U.S. law firm and/or large corporate litigation department.
- Demonstrated experience with international IP litigations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Hands-on U.S. patent litigation experience (fact/expert discovery and motion practice through bench/jury trials); experience arguing to the court.
- Advanced scientific degree; registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
- Team-oriented; creative and strategic approach to IP development/enforcement.
- Strong communication with senior management.
