Role Summary

The Area Sales Director Dermatology Southeast leads development and execution of business strategies for the Dermatology portfolio, with accountability for sales at a national level and leadership through District Managers. This role builds and guides a field sales organization, partners with cross-functional teams on brand planning, budget, targeting and messaging, and leads performance reviews to optimize area performance while ensuring a diverse, high-performing team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and motivate a team of sales leaders and sales professionals to deliver exceptional sales performance, achieving or exceeding area and national sales goals.
  • Recruit, hire, and coach District Managers and support their recruitment of high-performing sales professionals within the area.
  • Develop an inspiring vision and high-performance culture focused on results, accountability, and development; remove barriers and drive a solution-oriented mindset.
  • Foster learning and growth to achieve long-term success, partnering with HR and Commercial Learning & Development for ongoing capability building.
  • Provide ongoing performance management with measurable outcomes, delivering feedback and development plans to prepare talent for increased responsibility.
  • Mentor across cross-functional Dermatology teams and other US Business Units to support internal talent development.
  • Establish relationships with industry professionals, key customers, and accounts at the area and national levels.
  • Manage the area budget, prioritize resources, and build business cases for investments in collaboration with Sales and Marketing leadership.
  • Lead across a cross-functional environment, ensuring collaboration with Marketing, Market Access, Patient Access, Analytics & Insights, Therapeutic Policy & Advocacy, Medical leadership, and more.
  • Partner with Commercial Learning & Development to create leadership, selling skills, and clinical training for Field Leadership and National Sales meetings.
  • Contribute to the development of performance objectives and incentive plans; oversee communication, performance monitoring, and sales incentives and awards.
  • Advise Senior Leadership on market trends and competitive information.
  • Model and enforce high professional standards and ethical behavior, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations.

Qualifications

  • Required: 10 years of sales and marketing experience in the pharmaceutical industry, with a minimum of 5 years in a management role within pharmaceutical, immunology, biologic/biotech, or medical device industries (e.g., district management, account management, marketing management, product management).
  • Required: 5+ years of people management with demonstrated success in achieving sales targets through leadership and strategic planning.
  • Preferred: 2+ years’ experience managing first-line leaders.
  • Preferred: Experience in dermatology.
  • Preferred: Relevant clinical or cross-functional experience from training and development, marketing, sales force effectiveness, commercial operations, or related functions.
  • Preferred: Proficiency with emerging technologies, digital tools, and openness to AI-enabled processes.
  • Licenses/Certifications: Valid Driver's License.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree – BS/BA required

Additional Requirements

  • Travel: Frequent ability to drive to or fly to various meetings at customer sites, including overnight travel; ability to attend off-site sales meetings.
