Role Summary

The Area Sales Director Dermatology โ€“ Southeast leads the development and execution of dermatology sales strategies at national and regional levels, guiding a team through District Managers to achieve objectives. This role owns the implementation of priorities, helps build a new field sales organization, and acts as a strategic partner in brand planning, budgeting, and market insights. It also leads performance reviews and focuses on recruiting, retaining, and developing a high-performing, diverse sales team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of business strategies to deliver or exceed sales expectations at Area and National levels; motivate a team of sales leaders and professionals to drive performance.
  • Recruit, hire, and coach District Managers and assist them in recruiting high-performing sales professionals; build a high-performance culture and drive results.
  • Create an inspiring vision and a culture of accountability, balancing long-term strategy with immediate results.
  • Foster learning and growth, building capabilities and development opportunities in partnership with HR and Commercial Learning & Development.
  • Provide ongoing performance management with measurable outcomes, regular feedback, development plans, and action plans to address gaps.
  • Serve as a leader and mentor across cross-functional teams to foster internal talent:
  • Establish and cultivate relationships with industry professionals, customers, and accounts at the Area and National levels.
  • Manage the area budget, justify investments, and collaborate with Sales and Marketing leadership on budgeting and financial decisions.
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration with Marketing, Market Access, Patient Access, Analytics & Insights, Therapeutic Policy & Advocacy, Medical leadership, and other US Business Units.
  • Partner with Commercial Learning & Development to create leadership, selling skills, and clinical training for Field Leadership Meetings and National Sales meetings.
  • Contribute to performance objectives and incentive plans; drive communication planning and management of sales incentives and awards.
  • Advise Senior Leadership on market trends and competitive information.

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelorโ€™s degree โ€“ BS/BA; 10 years of sales and marketing experience in the pharmaceutical industry, with at least 5 years of management-level experience in related fields; 5+ years of people management with proven ability to achieve targets through leadership and strategic planning.
  • Preferred: 2+ yearsโ€™ experience managing first-line leaders; experience in dermatology; relevant clinical or cross-functional experience in training and development, marketing, sales force effectiveness, or commercial operations; adept at leveraging emerging technologies and AI-enabled processes.

Education

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree โ€“ BS/BA required

Travel Requirements

  • Frequent ability to drive to or fly to various meetings at customer sites, including overnight travel.
  • Ability to attend sales meetings at off-site locations.
