Role Summary

The Area Reimbursement Leader (Cardiovascular) is a remote, field-based leadership role responsible for directing a team of Access Reimbursement Managers (ARMs) across Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, and West Virginia. The ARL balances people leadership with hands-on account support, resolving complex access and reimbursement issues and driving strategic initiatives in partnership with the Associate Director, Access & Reimbursement (ADAR) and reporting to the Regional Director. This role ensures compliant, timely access support for large systems of care and field-based programs while coordinating cross-functional engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, develop, and coach a team of ARMs to achieve and exceed business goals, objectives, and metrics.
  • Develop, communicate, and cascade cardiovascular ARM strategies, plans, objectives, and metrics, aligning with broader ARM and community-based strategies.
  • Guide and mentor the field team (including solving complex reimbursement issues) and conduct regular field rides to gain insight into customer access concerns.
  • Create and implement area-level strategic plans using data insights and resource utilization to enhance patient access.
  • Serve as the key conduit between ARM teams and internal stakeholders, ensuring timely escalation of access and reimbursement challenges.
  • Manage performance evaluations and provide actionable feedback through field reports and ongoing feedback.
  • Collaborate with the RD to align ARM team objectives with area and regional strategies.
  • Lead projects and initiatives at area, regional, and national levels to support organizational priorities.
  • Manage travel, budget, and expenses in alignment with organizational policies.
  • Maintain understanding of NPC policies and requirements and ensure compliance with company guidance, applicable laws, HIPAA, and privacy guidelines.
  • Identify and report adverse events via established systems per applicable processes.
  • Coach/Player Responsibilities: Serve as an access and reimbursement expert within assigned accounts, addressing complex scenarios, and helping ARMs with tailored solutions; provide hands-on support as needed due to workload or complexity.
  • Field Coordination and Integration: contribute to seamless integration of access insights into broader field efforts, facilitate knowledge-sharing between ARMs and ADARs, and build relationships with key accounts to drive issue resolution.
  • Key Performance Indicators: meet/exceed designated NPS objectives, drive customer satisfaction and awareness of access programs, ensure customers are aware of and can access CV therapies, and maintain adherence to company guidance and laws.

Qualifications

  • Required: Must demonstrate excellent working knowledge of reimbursement and the practice management environment.
  • Required: Strong understanding of commercial payers, Medicare plans, and state Medicaid in the geographic region.
  • Required: Experience in patient assistance support, reimbursement support, and other access programs.
  • Preferred: 2+ years of prior first-line leadership experience.
  • Preferred: For internal Novartis associates, enrollment in or successful completion of the Novartis Leader Development Program (ELDP or SMDP), plus a minimum of 5 years of experience in Access & Reimbursement, Market Access, and/or Patient Services. 5+ years of Access & Reimbursement experience (Buy-and-Bill experience strongly preferred).

Education

  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree required. Advanced degree preferred.

Additional Requirements

  • Travel as required, and potentially on short notice.
  • Candidate must reside within the assigned geographic area (within reasonable daily commuting distance).
  • Driving is an essential function of this role; a fully valid and unrestricted driverโ€™s license is required.
