Role Summary
Area Business Manager position based in Portland, OR. A patient-inspired, results-oriented sales professional who will promote a rare disease product (Rett syndrome treatment) and lead the sales strategy within the territory, building cross-functional partnerships and delivering education-focused messages to healthcare providers.
Responsibilities
- Report directly to the Regional Business Leader, aligning with sales team goals and strategies.
- Build trusted relationships with healthcare providers and multidisciplinary care teams to support appropriate therapy starts.
- Develop and maintain relationships with target HCPs to raise awareness of the therapeutic area and product safety/efficacy.
- Deliver MLR-approved, education-focused disease-state information to target HCPs and provide tools for robust patient conversations.
- Plan and execute territory business plans to exceed goals, including call activity, adherence targets, and financial objectives.
- Cultivate relationships with key opinion leaders and stakeholders in the territory.
- Address customer concerns promptly and collaborate with internal teams to resolve issues.
- Analyze sales potential and optimize outreach within budget and compliance guidelines.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align strategies and support patients and providers.
- Participate in patient advocacy events, conferences, and trainings to stay ahead of industry trends.
- Stay informed about market trends and Acadia’s products; maintain deep therapeutic area knowledge.
- Maintain a positive, solutions-oriented attitude in a dynamic environment.
- Guide customers on product pricing and access, liaising with internal teams for complex questions.
- Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, and compliance; pursue personal and professional development.
- Represent Acadia’s mission, values, and culture in interactions.
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor’s degree (strong preference for life sciences).
- Required: 3+ years of pharmaceutical sales experience; at least 1 year in specialty sales (rare diseases emphasis).
- Preferred: 8+ years of pharmaceutical sales experience; 5+ years in specialty sales (rare diseases emphasis).
- Preferred: Experience in specialty sales (rare diseases, CNS/neurology, pediatric neurology); familiarity with specialty distribution and access.
- Required: Advanced selling and dialogue skills; ability to build lasting relationships with KOLs and multidisciplinary care teams.
- Required: Cross-functional collaboration to create and execute actionable business plans ensuring patient access to therapy.
- Required: Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; self-motivated and proactive.
- Required: Residency within the territory; valid driver’s license; willingness to travel extensively, including overnight stays and air travel.
- Required: In good standing with the FDA and OIG.
