Role Summary
Area Business Manager for Rett syndrome in the North New Jersey region. You will promote a rare disease product, lead territory sales activities, develop and execute the regional sales strategy, analyze market trends, and build cross-functional partnerships to expand patient access and outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Build trusted relationships with healthcare providers and multidisciplinary care teams, offering expert insights and ensuring tools to start patients on appropriate therapies.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with target HCPs to enhance awareness of the therapeutic area, including safety and efficacy of Acadia’s products.
- Deliver MLR-approved, education-focused messages and therapeutic area disease-state information to target HCPs to support robust patient conversations.
- Strategically plan and execute territory business plans to exceed goals, achieve call activity, adherence targets, and financial objectives.
- Cultivate and maintain strong connections with key opinion leaders and stakeholders in the territory.
- Address customer concerns promptly and collaborate with internal teams to resolve issues efficiently.
- Analyze sales potential and optimize outreach within budget and compliance guidelines.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align strategies and deliver support to patients and providers.
- Participate in local and national patient advocacy events, conferences, and training sessions to stay ahead of industry trends.
- Stay informed about market trends and Acadia’s products, maintaining deep knowledge of the therapeutic area.
- Maintain a positive, solutions-oriented attitude in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Guide customers on product pricing and access, liaising with internal teams for complex queries.
- Pursue personal and professional development and take on leadership opportunities as they arise.
- Represent Acadia with professionalism, reflecting the mission, values, and culture in every interaction.
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor’s degree; life sciences preferred.
- Required: At least 3 years of pharmaceutical sales experience, with at least 1 year in specialty sales (emphasis in rare diseases).
- Preferred: 8 years of pharmaceutical sales experience, including 5 years in specialty sales (emphasis in rare diseases) for Sr. Area Business Manager.
- Preferred: Specialty sales experience in rare diseases, CNS/neurology, or pediatric neurology; familiarity with specialty distribution and access.
- Required: Advanced selling and dialogue skills; ability to build lasting relationships with KOLs, Centers Of Excellence, and care teams.
- Required: Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally to create and execute actionable business plans ensuring patient access to therapy.
- Required: Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; self-motivated and proactive.
- Required: Residence within the territory with a valid driver’s license and willingness to travel extensively, including overnight stays and air travel.
- Required: In good standing with the FDA and OIG.
- Required: Ability to drive a company vehicle daily; willingness for overnight travel and air travel based on territory geography.
Additional Requirements
- Physical demands include regular standing, walking, sitting, and use of hands; occasional lifting up to 20 pounds; travel up to 80% of the time; ability to travel overnight and after-hours as required.
- Must live within the territory; may need to reside within a reasonable distance to a major airport due to geography.
