Role Summary
Area Business Manager – North New Jersey. Located in the North NJ area (Neptune, Trenton, Hackensack, Morristown, Newark regions) to promote Acadia’s rare-disease product, the first and only FDA-approved treatment for Rett syndrome in adults and pediatric patients two years and older. You will lead and develop the local sales strategy, build cross-functional partnerships, analyze market trends, and drive territory performance in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Build trusted relationships with healthcare providers and multidisciplinary care teams, providing expert insights and tools to initiate appropriate therapies.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with target HCPs to raise awareness of the therapeutic area, including safety and efficacy of Acadia’s products.
- Deliver MLR-approved, education-focused messages and disease-state information to target HCPs to support robust patient conversations.
- Strategically plan and execute territory business plans to exceed goals, including call activity, adherence targets, and financial objectives.
- Cultivate and maintain connections with key opinion leaders and stakeholders in the territory.
- Address customer concerns promptly and collaborate with internal teams to resolve issues efficiently.
- Analyze sales potential and optimize outreach within budget and compliance guidelines.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align strategies and support patients and providers.
- Participate in local and national patient advocacy events, conferences, and training sessions to stay ahead of industry trends.
- Stay informed about market trends and Acadia’s products, maintaining deep knowledge of the therapeutic area.
- Maintain a positive, solutions-oriented attitude in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Guide customers on product pricing and access, coordinating with internal teams for complex questions.
- Pursue personal and professional development and take on leadership opportunities as they arise.
- Represent Acadia with professionalism, reflecting mission, values, and culture in all interactions.
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor’s degree, strong preference for life sciences.
- Required: At least 3 years of pharmaceutical sales experience, with at least 1 year in specialty sales (emphasis on rare diseases).
- Preferred: 8 years of pharmaceutical sales experience, including 5 years in specialty sales (emphasis on rare diseases) for Sr. Area Business Manager.
- Preferred: Experience in specialty sales including rare diseases, CNS/neurology, or pediatric neurology; familiarity with specialty distribution and access.
- Required/Preferred: Advanced selling and dialogue skills, with ability to build lasting relationships with KOLs, Centers Of Excellence, and multidisciplinary care teams.
- Required/Preferred: Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally to create and execute actionable business plans ensuring patient access to therapy.
- Required: Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; self-motivated and proactive.
- Location: Must reside within the territory; valid driver’s license; willingness to travel extensively, including overnight stays and air travel.
- Regulatory: Must be in good standing with the FDA and OIG.
- Operational: Requires significant daily driving of a company-provided car and overnight travel; air travel as needed based on territory geography.
Additional Requirements
- Physical demands: Regular standing, walking, sitting, manual handling; occasional lifting up to 20 pounds; ability to travel overnight and work after hours as required.
- Travel: Up to 80% of the time, depending on territory geography; may require living within a reasonable distance to a major airport.
