Role Summary

Area Business Manager for North New Jersey, promoting Acadia’s Rett syndrome therapy in designated New Jersey territories. You will execute sales activities, lead and develop the sales strategy, analyze key business trends, and build cross-functional partnerships. The role requires developing relationships with healthcare providers and stakeholders, staying informed about market trends, and thriving in a dynamic environment while representing Acadia’s mission and culture.

Responsibilities

  • Build trusted relationships with healthcare providers and multidisciplinary care teams, offering expert insights and ensuring they have the tools to start patients on appropriate therapies.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with target HCPs to enhance awareness of the assigned therapeutic area, including safety and efficacy of Acadia’s products.
  • Deliver MLR-approved, education-focused messages and disease-state information to target HCPs, equipping them with tools to facilitate robust patient conversations.
  • Strategically plan and execute territory business plans to consistently exceed goals, achieving call activity, adherence targets, and financial objectives for the territory.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong connections with key opinion leaders (KOLs) and relevant stakeholders in the territory.
  • Address customer concerns quickly and collaborate with internal teams to resolve issues efficiently.
  • Analyze sales potential and optimize outreach to maximize results, while adhering to budget and compliance guidelines.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align strategies and deliver support to patients and providers.
  • Participate in local and national patient advocacy events, weekend events, conferences, and training sessions to stay ahead of industry trends.
  • Stay informed about market trends and Acadia’s products, ensuring deep knowledge of the therapeutic area.
  • Maintain a positive, solutions-oriented attitude in a fast-paced environment.
  • Guide customers on product pricing and access, acting as a liaison with internal teams for complex questions.
  • Actively pursue personal and professional development and take on leadership opportunities as they arise.
  • Represent Acadia with pride, reflecting the company’s mission, values, and culture in every interaction.

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree; minimum 3 years of pharmaceutical sales experience, with at least 1 year in specialty sales (rare diseases emphasis).
  • Preferred: 8 years of pharmaceutical sales experience, including 5 years in specialty sales (rare diseases); experience in specialty sales including rare diseases, CNS/neurology, or pediatric neurology; familiarity with specialty distribution and access.
  • Advanced selling and dialogue skills; ability to build lasting relationships with KOLs and multidisciplinary care teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally to create and execute actionable business plans ensuring patient access to therapy.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; self-motivated and proactive.
  • Must live within the territory with a valid driver’s license and willingness to travel extensively, including overnight stays and air travel.
  • Must be in good standing with the FDA and OIG.
  • Requires significant driving of a company-provided car daily and overnight travel, with air travel as required by geography.
