Role Summary

Area Business Manager for North New Jersey, responsible for promoting Acadia’s Rett syndrome therapy to adult and pediatric patients. You will lead and execute territory sales activities, develop the sales strategy, build cross-functional partnerships, analyze market trends, and drive patient access within Neptune, Trenton, Hackensack, Morristown, and Newark.

Responsibilities

  • Build trusted relationships with healthcare providers and multidisciplinary care teams, offering expert insights and ensuring tools to start patients on appropriate therapies.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with target HCPs to enhance awareness of the therapeutic area, including safety and efficacy of Acadia’s products.
  • Deliver MLR-approved, education-focused messages and therapeutic area disease-state information to target HCPs, equipping them with tools for robust patient conversations.
  • Strategically plan and execute territory business plans to exceed goals, achieving call activity, adherence targets, and financial objectives for the territory.
  • Cultivate and maintain connections with key opinion leaders (KOLs) and relevant stakeholders in the territory.
  • Address customer concerns quickly and collaborate with internal teams to resolve issues efficiently.
  • Analyze sales potential and optimize outreach to maximize results, while adhering to budget and compliance guidelines.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align strategies and deliver support to patients and providers.
  • Participate in local and national patient advocacy events, weekend events, conferences, and training sessions to stay ahead of industry trends.
  • Stay informed about market trends and Acadia’s products, ensuring deep knowledge of the therapeutic area.
  • Maintain a positive, solutions-oriented attitude in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Guide customers on product pricing and access, liaising with internal teams for complex questions.
  • Pursue personal and professional development, taking on leadership opportunities as they arise.
  • Represent Acadia with pride, reflecting mission, values, and culture in interactions.

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree (life sciences preferred).
  • At least 3 years of pharmaceutical sales experience, with at least 1 year in specialty sales (rare diseases emphasis) for Area Business Manager; at least 8 years of pharmaceutical sales experience, including 5 years in specialty sales (rare diseases emphasis) for Senior Area Business Manager.
  • Preferred: experience in specialty sales involving rare diseases, CNS/neurology, or pediatric neurology; familiarity with specialty distribution and access.
  • Advanced selling and dialogue skills; ability to build relationships with KOLs, Centers Of Excellence, and multidisciplinary care teams.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally to create and execute actionable business plans ensuring patient access to therapy.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; self-motivated and proactive.

Education

Additional Requirements

  • Must live within the territory and hold a valid driver’s license; willing to travel extensively, including overnight stays and air travel.
  • Must be in good standing with applicable regulatory bodies as required.
  • Requires significant daily driving of a company-provided car and overnight travel depending on territory geography; air travel may be required to company headquarters and for regional/national meetings and events.
  • Travel up to 80% of the time (territory-dependent); ability to work after hours as travel schedule requires.
