Role Summary
Area Business Manager for the North New Jersey region responsible for promoting Acadia’s rare-disease Rett syndrome product. You will lead and execute territory sales activities, develop the sales strategy, analyze market trends, and build cross-functional partnerships. This role requires strong relationship-building with healthcare providers, adherence to regulatory guidelines, and travel within the territory to support customers and patients.
Responsibilities
- Build trusted relationships with healthcare providers and multidisciplinary care teams, providing expert insights and tools to start appropriate therapies.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with target HCPs to raise awareness of the therapeutic area, including product safety and efficacy.
- Deliver MLR-approved, education-focused messages and disease-state information to target HCPs to facilitate patient conversations.
- Strategically plan and execute territory business plans to exceed goals, including call activity, adherence targets, and financial objectives.
- Cultivate and maintain connections with key opinion leaders and stakeholders in the territory.
- Address customer concerns promptly and collaborate with internal teams to resolve issues.
- Analyze sales potential and optimize outreach within budget and compliance guidelines.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align strategies and support patients and providers.
- Participate in local and national patient advocacy events, conferences, and training sessions to stay current with industry trends.
- Stay informed about market trends and Acadia’s products to maintain deep therapeutic area knowledge.
- Maintain a positive, solutions-oriented attitude in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Guide customers on product pricing and access, coordinating with internal teams for complex questions.
- Pursue personal and professional development and take on leadership opportunities as they arise.

Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor’s degree (strong preference for life sciences).
- Required: At least 3 years of pharmaceutical sales experience, with at least 1 year in specialty sales (emphasis in rare diseases).
- Preferred: 8+ years of pharmaceutical sales experience, including 5+ years in specialty sales (emphasis in rare diseases).
- Preferred: Experience in specialty sales including rare diseases, CNS/neurology, or pediatric neurology; familiarity with specialty distribution and access.
- Required: Advanced selling and dialogue skills; ability to build lasting relationships with KOLs, Centers Of Excellence, and multidisciplinary care teams.
- Required: Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally to create and execute actionable business plans ensuring patient access to therapy.
- Required: Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; self-motivated, proactive attitude.
- Required: Must live within the territory and possess a valid driver’s license; willingness to travel extensively, including overnight stays and air travel.
- Required: Must be in good standing with the FDA and OIG.
- Required: Ability to drive a company vehicle daily and travel, including overnight travel and air travel as dictated by territory geography.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree required, with a strong preference for life sciences.

Additional Requirements
- Travel up to 80% of the time (depending on territory geography); overnight travel and air travel required as needed.
- Must live within the territory or within a reasonable distance to a major airport.
- Must maintain eligibility to drive a company-provided car and comply with travel requirements.
