Zoetis, the world's largest Animal Health company is looking for a qualified individual to fill the role of poultry animal technician at the Veterinary Medicine Research and Development (VMRD) world headquarters in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
The animal research technician is a critical role in the day-to-day animal facility operations and portfolio execution. This position supports Poultry in a biocontainment and non-biocontainment research environment primarily at the Zoetis Kalamazoo, MI site with some crossover work at the Richland, MI farm site. Primary species of responsibility is poultry but may also include cross-support with other species. The position requires the proper use and maintenance of all necessary equipment and follow appropriate techniques as determined by departmental SOPs and institutional Policies. This role performs all phases of animal experiments associated with discovery and/or development of animal health products and includes but is not limited to setting up and performing a variety of animal activities, performing daily animal husbandry, sample collection, sample processing, data collection, record keeping, executing technical aspects of study protocols and laboratory and instrument maintenance in accordance with applicable Animal Welfare and GXP and policies. All responsibilities must be conducted in accordance with protocols and applicable SOPs.
Utilizes knowledge of how functional areas are used and maintained in the completion of research protocols. Responsible for all steps of room maintenance related to studies, with priority on cleaning and disinfecting.

May include some evening hours. Will include weekend and holiday work hours.
May not own birds or poultry; other outside contact with birds or poultry is limited.
