Animal Research Associate (VelociGene)
In this role, a typical day may include:
- Perform basic tasks for processing genetically altered rodents, including animal identification (marking), breeding, weaning, and collecting tissue samples for DNA/RNA analysis.
- Conduct natural history analysis when requested.
- Record crucial data in the Velocigene Data Management System.
- Assist with breeding tasks, including embryo donor and recipient breeding.
- Perform husbandry (cage changing) duties.
- Support packing/shipping of rodents and perform basic vivarium tasks such as ordering supplies and general maintenance when needed.

- Have strong oral and written communication skills.
Qualifications:
- Minimum A.A. degree with some biology course work, or
- Minimum 2 years of experience working with laboratory animals (previous experience handling lab rodents preferred).
Execution/Guidance:
- Tasks are guided by the Velocigene Data Management System and instruction from the Vivarium manager.
