Analytical Development Principal Scientist

Role: Senior scientist supporting small molecule drug substance process development and analytical control strategy at Vertex. Responsibilities: design and oversee analytical activities across development phases, develop analytical methods, establish specifications for drug substances, intermediates, and starting materials, and serve as a SME liaising with external vendors. Responsibilities also include developing control strategies based on Quality by Design principles, supporting regulatory documentation, and troubleshooting analytical issues. Requirements: Ph.D. with 4+ years or equivalent experience in analytical development of small molecules; proficiency in chromatography and modern analytical techniques; strong knowledge of cGMP, ICH, FDA, and USP guidelines. Preferred: background in synthetic organic chemistry, process chemistry, and pharmaceutical manufacturing. High-value: focus on small molecule drug substances, late-phase development, control strategy development, and regulatory support. Work setup: on-site five days a week with flexible arrangements.
