Overview
Hands-on laboratory role (>70% bench work) in Synthetic Molecule Design and Development. Develop analytical methods and characterize chemical processes to advance small-molecule drug candidates from early development through manufacturing readiness.

Position Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize analytical methods to measure purity, potency, and other critical quality attributes of drug substances and synthetic intermediates.
- Use HPLC, GC, NMR, and MS to generate data on reaction mechanisms, kinetic behavior, and process-related impurities.
- Assess stability of development materials under stressed conditions for potential degradation using chromatographic techniques.
- Partner with synthetic chemists and process engineers to ensure methods guide development and can transfer to GMP laboratories for routine testing/manufacturing support.
- Perform lab work with strong emphasis on safety and technical rigor.
- Apply new scientific concepts; solve problems; self-motivated across multiple projects.
- Communicate technical and business implications effectively (written and verbal).

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master of Science in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or related field.
- Experience with LC/GC/IC chromatographic method development or validation in pharmaceutical/chemical/regulated industry.
- Authorized to work in the United States full-time; Lilly will not sponsor visas.

Additional Skills/Preferences
- Knowledge of LC-MS/GC-MS and NMR.
- Familiarity with chemical process development, synthetic organic chemistry, and setting material specs/testing plans.
- Troubleshoot and maintain analytical instrumentation.
- Scientific leadership; influence others; prioritize and navigate ambiguity.
