Role Summary

The Patient Navigator (PN) is a remote, full-time role within the U.S. Patient Engagement Team. The PN guides individuals with alopecia areata (AA) and their caregivers, helping them understand the treatment landscape and access available resources. This field-based, community-facing role emphasizes patient education, support, and connection to local, regional, and national community partners. The PN oversees major programs, drives strategic initiatives, and works with cross-functional teams, applying advanced expertise in the patient journey to inform organizational direction and measurable outcomes. The PN adheres to compliance and regulatory standards and fosters innovation to advance patient engagement. The PN triages patients to reimbursement resources as needed and does not provide reimbursement support for Pfizer AA treatments.

Responsibilities

  • Patient Education and Support: Educate patients and caregivers about AA, treatment options, local and regional support offerings, and health and wellness resources. Provide ongoing education and disease state awareness throughout the patient journey.
  • Patient Navigation: Assist patients in navigating care by connecting them to relevant resources within their communities and at Pfizer.
  • Collaboration: Coordinate with Key Account Directors, management, and cross-functional partners to ensure patient goals and support objectives align with local market dynamics and patient journeys.
  • Project Management: Set objectives, manage complex projects, and oversee ongoing activities within the Business Unit. Projects may include collaborations and partnerships with healthcare systems, HCPs/educators, and advocacy partners.
  • Expertise and Knowledge Sharing: Serve as a subject matter expert, adapting and implementing strategic actions. Share knowledge across the organization and contribute to knowledge management initiatives.
  • Innovation and Solutions: Develop solutions to complex problems, champion innovation, and implement new ideas, processes, or products. Make decisions that impact current and future Business Unit objectives.
  • What You Will Achieve: Provide guidance and educational resources to address patient questions and information needs; support patients in navigating their care by connecting them to appropriate resources; share information on emerging treatments and the treatment journey to facilitate shared decision-making; coordinate with advocacy and support teams, attending events to present approved educational content; use motivational interviewing to identify patient needs and tailor engagement; offer both in-person and virtual engagement; build trust and provide ongoing support for patients to take informed next steps; refer patients and caregivers to local health and wellness organizations; develop solutions to complex problems, influencing long-term goals and outcomes.
  • How You Will Have Impact: Operate within a geographic region to educate and connect patients to healthcare resources; adhere to regulations and collaborate with legal/compliance teams; present the Patient Navigator role and Pfizer support resources at events; partner with internal teams to meet patient needs and provide educational content to support groups; engage with patients and caregivers through various channels; provide local insights to inform materials and support resources; organize travel and materials for events.

Qualifications

  • Required: B.S. or B.A. degree; minimum 7–10 years of pharmaceutical or related industry experience; demonstrated exceptional communication, listening, and presentation skills; proven ability to work in regulated environments and adhere to compliance guidelines; track record of broad collaboration with diverse clients and stakeholders; experience in responsible business practices and compassionate communication; familiarity with Pfizer and industry compliance guidelines for working with Medical and Access & Reimbursement colleagues; ability to deliver concise, meaningful presentations with integrity and empathy; strong attention to detail, organizational, and business skills; willingness to travel up to 50%, including weekends and evenings; valid US driver’s license and driving record in compliance with company standards (DUI/DWI or other impaired driving citation within the past 7 years disqualifies).
  • Preferred: Clinical background (RN, APRN, NP, ARNP, ACSW, LCSW, MPH); knowledge of AA and patient/public advocacy; remote/field-based role; preferred to live in specified geography; bilingual proficiency in certain areas.
