Role Summary

AI & Data Portfolio Finance Manager responsible for leading budget execution for AI and Data departments within Amgen’s Technology and Medical Organization (ATMOS). Provides financial leadership, planning, and analysis for budgets, forecasting, cost optimization, and capital allocation. Serves as a trusted advisor to department and project leaders, guiding efficient execution of strategic initiatives. Requires experience managing a technology project portfolio and navigating governance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • For Departments: Leads and facilitates annual budget planning collection and related analysis; maintains budget plans and reconciles them with actual spend; leads quarterly forecast updates and close activities; provides ad hoc analytical support for spending trends, resource utilization, and variance analysis; supports headcount planning; adheres to enterprise processes.
  • For Initiatives: Partners with leaders on business case generation and submission for AI and data projects; determines financial breakdown of investments across capital, deferred expense, and operating expense; supports resource allocation tracking; provides budget execution support throughout the procure-to-pay process; ensures alignment with governance guidelines, timelines, and processes.
  • Decision Support: Delivers financial analyses and presentations to senior leadership; supports strategic ad hoc analyses and special projects with timely inputs to stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Required: Doctorate degree and 2 years of financial analytics experience
  • Required: Master’s degree and 4 years of financial analytics experience
  • Required: Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of financial analytics experience
  • Required: Associate’s degree and 10 years of financial analytics experience
  • Required: High school diploma / GED and 12 years of financial analytics experience
  • Preferred: Advanced degree in business or finance

Skills

  • Strong analytical skills

Education
