Associate General Counsel, Development Counsel, Global Legal Business Partner
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as lead Legal Business Partner to the Development organization (Global Regulatory Affairs, R&D Quality, Patient Safety, Clinical Development, Clinical Operations, and cross-functional Gilead Asset Teams) providing legal counsel on regulatory laws and regulations.
- Collaborate as part of a matrixed, global team with Legal and Compliance to provide strategic counsel on complex, cross-functional issues.
- Track and maintain knowledge of pertinent regulatory issues in the U.S. and key international markets.
- Review and advise on regulatory policy issues; work with Global Regulatory Policy & Intelligence and serve on industry trade association regulatory law work groups.
- Provide regulatory counsel support for corporate development activities including M&A, collaborations, and licenses.
- Provide business partners with training, policy support, and learnings to support effective risk management.
- Proactively draft and provide legal advice on corporate policies, SOPs, and guidance documents.
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with global Development teams and cross-functional development teams.
- Improve efficiency, coordination, and effectiveness of legal advice and legal support.
- Define, direct, and manage outside counsel.
Training/Experience Required:
- J.D. degree; active law license in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
- 12+ years of pharmaceutical legal experience (multinational company and/or reputable law firm).
- Experience advising on FDA and regulatory matters.
Skills/Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical regulatory laws, rules, regulations, industry practices, and standards.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and determine appropriate action.
- Ability to translate complex legal requirements into practical solutions.
- Ability to manage priorities in a matrixed environment; handle multiple projects in a fast-paced setting.
- Ability to independently handle complex matters with minimal supervision and know when to escalate.
- Proven judgment on complex issues with significant strategic risk.

Benefits/Compensation:
- Salary range: $261,375.00 - $338,250.00.
- May include discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives, paid time off, and benefits including company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance.
