Position Overview
Primary laboratory-based individual contributor in NAMs/CIVMs (Investigative Toxicology) supporting CNS/PNS safety and BBB human-relevant in vitro models.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, qualify, and apply advanced human-relevant in vitro models (iPSC-derived neurons/glia, co-cultures, organoids/assembloids, DRG neuron models, BBB models) to detect/characterize compound-induced neural injury.
- Design mechanistic studies for excitotoxicity, seizurogenic/network activity perturbation, demyelination, neuroinflammation, mitochondrial dysfunction, axonopathy, and BBB integrity disruption.
- Use MEAs and/or FLIPR calcium flux assays; qualify novel endpoints to improve sensitivity, specificity, throughput, and translational relevance.
- Provide mechanistic expertise to project teams via in vitro follow-on studies; review literature to generate hypotheses.
- Collaborate with in silico ADMET Intelligence; integrate computational predictions with in vitro data for tiered safety decision frameworks.
- Evaluate emerging technologies; serve as scientific point of contact for CRO/academia; participate in consortia.
- Publish and present research.
Minimum Requirements
- PhD in Neuroscience/Neurotoxicology/Pharmacology/Biomedical Engineering/Cell Biology or related.
- Advisor: PhD + 2+ years postdoc/industry hands-on experience; Senior Advisor: 5+ years with independent contribution/model qualification/leadership.
- Direct hands-on experience with at least one: iPSC neural model development; MEA/FLIPR functional neurotoxicity or seizurogenic assessment; in vitro BBB model development; 3D organoids/assembloids injury profiling.
Additional / Preferred
- Transcriptomics and/or high-content imaging; strong communication; matrixed cross-functional teamwork.
- Plus: oligonucleotide delivery neurotoxicity, neuroinflammation/microglial biology, mentoring/leading.
Compensation & Benefits (as stated)
