Position Overview
- Experienced scientist for Genomic Sciences team in Lilly Genetic Medicineβs RNA Therapeutics organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute NGS-based genomics experiments (e.g., 3β RNA-seq, mRNA-seq, targeted panels, scRNA-seq, spatial transcriptomics) to support siRNA/ASO profiling, selectivity assessment, biodistribution studies, and mechanism-of-action characterization.
- Independently identify scientific questions and develop end-to-end experimental strategies from assay design through data interpretation.
- Establish and optimize functional genomics workflows at screening scale (library prep, multiplexing, QC, sequencing across NGS platforms).
- Integrate transcriptomic/pharmacologic/structural information to support compound progression and lead selection.
- Collaborate on analysis design to ensure replication, power, and controls support robust statistical inference.
- Leverage lab automation (e.g., Hamilton, Beckman) to improve throughput and reproducibility.
- Troubleshoot assay performance and implement corrective actions with minimal supervision.
- Present findings/recommendations; contribute to publications, patents, and conferences.
- Mentor junior scientists.
Basic Qualifications
- Ph.D. in genomics, molecular biology, genetics, or related field; minimum 2 years postdoctoral and/or industry experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Independently design/execute/interpret NGS-based functional genomics experiments.
- Cross-functional pharmaceutical/biotech experience.
- Strong communication to translate genomic data into actionable recommendations.
- High-throughput transcriptomic screening experience (e.g., compound profiling, dose-response, off-target).
- RNA therapeutics biology knowledge (siRNA seed off-target and/or ASO pharmacology).
- Spatial transcriptomics and/or single-cell genomics experience.
- Genomics data analysis skills (differential expression, high-dimensional visualization).
- Lab automation experience for NGS sample handling/library prep.
- Publication record in genomics/functional genomics.
Benefits (explicitly stated)
- Eligibility for company bonus (full-time equivalent).
- Comprehensive benefit program including 401(k), pension, vacation, medical/dental/vision/prescription, flexible benefits, life insurance, time off/leave, and well-being benefits.
