Responsibilities:
- Lead overall design delivery for capital project(s) for a multi-node program/network; manage a team of Design Leads (manufacturing buildings, utilities, support systems).
- Influence Sr. Management on asset design/delivery approaches.
- Identify applicable Engineering Design/Functional Standards, Specifications, and internal/external regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate design with the Project Manager through all design phases; deliver conceptual and basic design reviews.
- Direct development of design requirements; manage design schedule.
- Participate in selection of A/E firms; coordinate with A/E firms on earned value progress systems by discipline.
- Own design decisions; coordinate information flow between design team and system owners.
- Ensure design meets approved intent via interactions with design firm, design specialists, engineering tech center disciplines, and end users; clearly distinguish want vs need.
- Provide design governance; resolve design-related problems and report formally.
- Identify design inefficiencies and strategies to improve design-hour plans.
- Direct SOPs/work instructions/best practices for design/verification and drive network adoption.
- Review/approve key design personnel; partner with technical/constructability resources to resolve issues.
- Support value engineering to reduce cost; participate in KPI reviews/assessments.
- Participate in selection of verification services; develop Project Verification Plan, Traceability Matrix, and risk assessments.
- Coordinate verification and manage discrepancy tracking using root-cause techniques.
Qualifications:
- BS in Engineering (Chemical or Mechanical strongly preferred).
- Minimum 15 years manufacturing and/or engineering support for pharmaceutical or API networks.
- Ability to work at the project site weekly (reports through Indianapolis).
Additional preference:
- Strong manufacturing and engineering background.
Travel:
- ~20% (1β2 weeks/month until relocation).
Compensation/benefits (as stated):
- Anticipated wage: $129,000β$209,000; may be eligible for company bonus and comprehensive benefits (e.g., 401(k), healthcare, life insurance, vacation, time off/leave, well-being benefits).
