Role Summary
The Associate Director, WW/International Markets Medical Learning, Immunology (Rheumatology) is accountable for planning, developing, implementing, facilitating, and assessing ongoing scientific training in support of the BMS Immunology (Rheumatology) for FM and HOM, and ensuring FM teams are equipped to support WW priority clinical trials. The role supports FM and HOM personnel in becoming trusted partners to a broad set of stakeholders, driving scientific exchange and collecting timely insights that can create measurable medical impact on patient outcomes and enhance patient access to BMS medicines.
Responsibilities
- Lead strategic planning and execution of scientific learning to ensure launch readiness for WW/International Markets
- Create annual WW training plans to support the needs of HOM and FM teams; work with matrix partners to align plans with strategic needs of the business (WW Medical Affairs, US Scientific Learning, Medical Excellence, etc)
- Support training around BMS scientific data releases at major congresses, including embargoed data training, data training workshops, post-congress contextualisation, and knowledge retention activities
- Collaborate with WW Medical Affairs and WW Medical Learning colleagues to research and select outside speakers/consultants for timely discussions on TA-related medical topics
- Identify innovative training tools and methods and implement them for WW training support and resource development
- Collaborate with WW Medical Affairs teams and US Medical Learning to align on training plans, reduce duplication, and optimize use of resources for content development and workshop design
- Partner with International Market Medical Enablement for deployment of scientific educational resources
- Align with HOM and FM leadership on training windows to protect FM time for field activities
- Partner with US Medical Learning and International Market Medical Enablement to support strategic alignment in education plans and resource development
- Incorporate innovation, new processes, and technologies into learning events as appropriate
- Align trainings with medical strategic imperatives, medical communication topics, scientific narratives, and core competencies
- Partner with US Medical Learning and WW Commercialization Learning Center of Excellence for development of foundational education and continuous learning programs for international markets
- Evaluate quality of training materials and programs through regular training needs assessments with the Director, WW/International Market Medical Learning
- Optimize adult learner experiences based on feedback from FM, HOM Leadership Teams, and Director
- Manage vendors, SOW submission, and PO invoicing for vendor-supported work
- Lead, design, and deploy new hire TA scientific learning plans, onboarding guides, Knowledge Roadmaps, assessments, and ongoing scientific learning initiatives for WW (international markets) FM and HOM teams
- Evaluate onboarding effectiveness and update resources (disease state, BMS data, narratives, competitive landscape)
- Plan, execute, and maintain all FM training for tiered immunology clinical trials across multiple markets; collaborate with Global Field Medical Excellence, WW Medical Learning, and R&D colleagues
- Coordinate with commercialization matrix partners (e.g., marketing, sales training)
- Create/adapt resources and tools to support WW FM and HOM teams in delivering product information to healthcare professionals
- Design training sessions using Adult Learning Principles and apply insights from the Medical Trainer Academy
- Support implementation of medical leadership initiatives for FM and HOM teams
- Ensure educational events/resources align with leadership, product, and therapeutic area strategy
- Comply with Bristol Myers Squibb values and complete required SOPs and training
- Demonstrate flexibility with competing priorities
- Archive training materials and strategic plans using BMS platforms
- Participate in training of new team hires and on-the-job training programs for professional growth
Qualifications
- Advanced degree required: MD, DO, PharmD, DNP, PhD, or MSN strongly preferred
- 3+ years TA experience
- 8+ years pharmaceutical/biotech/relevant industry experience as a field MSL or similar role with a proven track record
- Experience and strong skills in public presentation
- Exceptional organizational and planning skills
- Ability to interact effectively cross-functionally and across geographies
- Ability to assess workload and prioritize under tight deadlines
- Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills and ability to build partnerships
- Knowledge and application of adult learning principles and design of effective learning solutions
