Role Summary

The Associate Director, Access & Reimbursement, RLT (Radioligand Therapy) is a remote/field-based role in California, supporting access and reimbursement strategies across assigned accounts. The role focuses on educating providers and staff, addressing payer requirements, and ensuring integration of access programs within account workflows. The position requires travel within the territory and collaboration with cross-functional NPC teams.

Responsibilities

  • Interact with large, complex accounts to support patient access within their aligned therapeutic area product(s), and provide face-to-face education on programs to providers and staff to integrate products into office processes.
  • Address questions related to NPC policies on product ordering, payment, inventory, and returns/replacements in offices.
  • Collaborate with executives, providers, administrators, billing/coding staff, claims departments, and revenue cycle managers to support patient access to products.
  • Analyze reimbursement issues, identify trends, and partner internally/externally to support patient access to Novartis medicines; assist with local coverage decisions.
  • Inform customers about NVS-sponsored patient support programs (e.g., Co-pay) and maintain expertise in local access landscapes.
  • Interface with the Patient Support Center and Access & Reimbursement Managers on patient case management, tracking, issue resolution, and staff education.
  • Coordinate cross-functional insights on customer needs and barriers related to access and reimbursement; adhere to privacy laws and internal guidelines.
  • Identify and report adverse events per established processes.
Buy and Bill Specific
  • Assess access in the geography and develop a Plan of Action (POA); communicate POA to relevant personnel.
  • Educate HCPs on acquisition pathways, buy-and-bill end-to-end processes, workflows, and facility pull-through in complex accounts, including centralized/decentralized acquisition and alternate site-of-care scenarios.
  • Educate stakeholders on logistics for ordering, payment, inventory, and returns/replacements.
  • Analyze reimbursement issues and serve as the designated reimbursement expert for offices and field teams.
  • Engage with non-prescribers (pharmacy, system leadership, financial counselors, office administrators, revenue cycle managers, etc.).
Radioligand Therapies Specific
  • Partner with the patient engagement team on supply capacity, site procurement eligibility, and communications on orders/logistics.
  • Assess site readiness for procurement of nuclear medicines and billing to facilitate orders; identify procurement gaps and work cross-functionally to resolve.
  • Facilitate procurement/logistics education for sites and local field teams; support patient-specific needs (benefit verification, prior authorization, appeals, copay programs).
  • Collaborate with Market Access to ensure completion of purchase agreements and onboarding forms for new sites.
  • Support treatment-site onboarding (RAM license, W9, PRD preferences); apply to therapy, diagnostic, and theragnostic centers.

What You’ll Bring To The Role

Education

Bachelor’s degree required; business and/or biological science background preferred. Advanced degree preferred.

Essential Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in pharmaceuticals/biotech focusing on Patient Services, Market Access, Sales, and/or account management, with 2+ years in a Patient Services practice support role for a specialty product.
  • Experience with highly complex practices or health systems to establish access and acquisition pathways.
  • Strategic account management experience with proactive problem anticipation affecting access.
  • Deep expertise in integrating manufacturer-sponsored patient support programs.
  • Experience with specialty products via Specialty Pharmacy networks.
  • Knowledge of reimbursement pathways (specialty pharmacy, buy-and-bill, retail).
  • Strong understanding of Commercial payers, Medicare, and state Medicaid in the geographic region.
  • Must live within the assigned territory and be able to travel at least 50% of the time; driving is an essential function with a valid driver’s license.

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience presenting to C-level account executives.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with Field Sales, Marketing, Market Access, Public Affairs, State & Government Affairs, Trade, and third-party affiliates.
  • Expertise in therapeutic area dynamics and reimbursement/support needs.
  • Strong customer focus, collaboration, business acumen, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Experience with field-based, customer-engaging roles and managing field expenses.

  • Travel: Ability to travel within geography; expected travel at least 50% based on territory.
  • Driving: Fully valid and unrestricted driver's license required; driving is essential.
