Job Description (Field-based)
The Account Specialist maximizes opportunities for the product portfolio in a single-layer geography by developing and maintaining strategic relationships with hospitals, IDNs, academic institutions, outpatient accounts, long-term care facilities, government accounts, and specialty private practice to increase patient access, grow and expand business, and achieve geography sales goals.

Responsibilities
- Advance hospital and specialty customers through the sales continuum to gain prescriber commitments using effective questioning, active listening, and approved data/resources.
- Deliver on-label presentations/sales calls highlighting benefits/risks and addressing therapeutic area gaps to achieve sales goals.
- Develop relationships and differentiate the Anti-Infective portfolio value proposition at C-suite, physicians, hospital staff, and support personnel levels.
- Solve product/patient flow issues across Specialty Pharmacy, Specialty Distribution, and Buy & Bill channels; coordinate key stakeholders.
- Build relationships to provide market intelligence and develop compliant programs/initiatives.
- Succeed in matrixed, account-based selling; partner with AbbVie in-field and in-house teams to design/adapt tactics.
- Create and monitor strategic geography business plans; align focus and resources by account.
- Source and use account data to maintain account profiles/relationship maps; target key decision makers.
- Attend and represent products at local boards/societies/conventions/HCP meetings; keep communications on-label.
- Complete required training; maintain policy and OEC/Legal adherence; meet HCIR credentialing requirements.

Qualifications
- Bachelorโ€™s in health/sciences/pharmacy/business preferred; or equivalent experience: 5+ years with 3+ years in pharmaceutical/health/science (H.S. diploma/GED required).
- Account-based selling experience (hospitals, wound care, infusion centers) and hospital advocacy experience (with/without formulary win); experience in IDNs/academia/multi-account matrix environments.
- Knowledge of formulary approval; Buy & Bill and specialty pharmacy experience preferred.
- Proven sales performance; strong advanced selling skills; ability to communicate complex products simply.
- Strong business acumen, planning/organization, and presentation/facilitation skills; ability to learn and present complex scientific/clinical information.
- Valid driverโ€™s license; ability to travel and cover assigned geography.
- Must satisfy HCIR credentialing requirements (e.g., background/drug screens, immunization proof, fingerprinting, state/city licenses).
