Role Summary
Account Specialist, AI - Riverside, CA will advance hospital and specialty customers along the sales continuum, gain prescriber commitments, and deliver on-label presentations to highlight product benefits and address gaps. The role involves developing professional relationships across accounts, navigating matrixed healthcare environments, and leading strategic geography plans to achieve sales objectives.
Responsibilities
- Advance hospital and specialty customers along the sales continuum and gain prescriber commitments through effective questioning, active listening, and use of approved data and resources.
- Deliver on-label presentations/sales calls to highlight benefits and risks of the product portfolio, creating awareness and addressing gaps in therapeutic areas to achieve sales goals.
- Develop professional relationships and differentiate the Anti-Infective portfolio’s value proposition at all levels within accounts to further product usage.
- Problem solve product and patient flow through Specialty Pharmacy, Specialty Distribution, and Buy and Bill channels; coordinate stakeholders across departments to align patient-focused solutions.
- Understand and address customer needs; build relationships that provide market intelligence and support compliant, innovative programs; expand physician usage and customer base.
- Operate effectively in a complex, matrixed account-based selling environment; partner with in-field and in-house teams to design and adapt approaches and tactics.
- Create, develop, execute, and monitor strategic geography business plans; determine focus by account and align resources to support tactics.
- Source, interpret, and utilize data by account to maintain account profiles and relationship maps; target key stakeholders to expand usage.
- Attend and participate in local boards, societies, conventions, and other HCP meetings; represent AbbVie and assigned products and communicate findings to internal partners.
- Complete all required training and adhere to policies and credentialing requirements to gain entry into facilities and organizations within the territory.
- Collaborate across departments and with cross-functional partners to develop processes within the account base and with Medical Science Liaisons on compliant communication strategies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or business-related field preferred, or equivalent industry experience; high school diploma/GED required; five years of relevant experience with three or more years in pharma/health/science preferred.
- Account-based selling experience in Hospitals, Wound Care Centers, or Infusion Centers; ability to navigate matrix environments within complex accounts (IDNs, academic institutions, hospitals, outpatient sites).
- Knowledge of formulary approval processes and driving formulary approvals; experience with Buy and Bill and specialty pharmacy products preferred.
- Documented history of strong sales performance and ability to communicate complex products clearly; proven ability to work as an individual contributor within a collaborative environment.
- Strong business acumen, accountability for sales geography, multitasking ability, problem-solving, and capacity to influence without authority; willingness to continuously learn and adapt.
- Strong planning, organization, presentation, and facilitation skills; ability to learn procedural, technical, and clinical information quickly and present complex scientific information to diverse audiences.
- Ability to build collaborative partnerships, lead by example, and maintain fully covering of the assigned geography.
- Must satisfy health care industry credentialing requirements (HCIR) to gain and maintain entry into facilities; in good standing or eligible to obtain credentials.
- HCIR requirements may include background checks, drug screens, immunizations, fingerprinting, and state/city-specific licenses; the candidate is responsible for meeting all credentialing requirements.
