Position Overview
- Biological Sample Management Accessioning Specialist II; accessions samples and assists in managing samples throughout their lifecycle (mostly lab work).
- Shifts: MonβFri 5:30amβ2:00pm; TueβSat 10:30amβ7:00pm.
Primary Responsibilities
- Receive and accession samples into the Laboratory Information System (LIMS) used by BSM.
- Identify problem samples/shipments; determine whether to escalate to another department or BSM leadership.
- Enter/upload and ensure accurate, complete sample/project information across multiple systems.
- Maintain complete Chain of Custody (COC) records for each sample.
- Ensure appropriate storage, transfer (at correct temperature), check-in/check-out, and disposition (disposal/return) of physical samples.
- Work independently with strong process understanding and time management.
- Follow documentation, safety protocols, and lab regulations (GCLP, CAP, CLIA).
Required
- 1+ year clinical laboratory experience performing CLIA high complexity testing, or working with clinical samples in a regulated lab.
- High School Diploma or Associate degree.
Preferred Skills/Experience
- BS in Biology/Molecular Biology/Immunology/Chemistry.
- High-throughput clinical/research/pathology lab experience; LIMS and web applications.
- HIPAA compliance; customer service experience.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
- Lab handling human biological specimens; possible late evenings/weekends.
- Sit/stand for much of the day; data entry; lift up to 30 lbs; wear PPE.
Compensation
- Hourly rate: $22.84β$27.79; equity grant; bonus eligible.
