Position Summary:
The Director, Access & Reimbursement (DAR) leads and coaches a team of Access & Reimbursement Managers (ARMs) responsible for access and fulfillment activities across nephrology healthcare provider accounts and execution of the patient access field reimbursement strategy. Ensures healthcare providers, patients, and caregivers have information, tools, and resources to start and stay on therapy, and fosters compliant cross-functional communications (Patient Experience, Specialty Pharmacy, Market Access, Field Sales).
Responsibilities:
- Hire, mentor, develop, and lead a field access/reimbursement team; optimize execution with KPIs/analytics.
- Provide strategic planning and manage day-to-day tactics in a fast-paced environment.
- Build regional vision and culture; motivate performance; develop customer relationships.
- Deliver performance management, coaching, and training; ensure compliance with regulations and internal policies.
- Coach team to expedite patient access; troubleshoot access/fulfillment obstacles (pharmacy benefit, specialty pharmacy, REMS).
- Create regional business plan to improve initiation and pull-through metrics; train on coverage criteria changes.
- Ensure cross-functional collaboration and an ARM/hub/REMS/specialty pharmacy/payer communication cadence.
- Spend time in field/virtual calls for coaching and issue resolution; cultivate key account relationships.
- Analyze regional performance and address gaps in ARM capabilities.
Education/Experience Requirements:
- Bachelorβs degree (related field) required (or equivalent education/experience).
- 10 years pharma/biotech (specialty pharma, nephrology, rare disease, REMS preferred).
- 5+ years in specialty medicines with deep access/reimbursement landscape knowledge.
- 3+ years as a field reimbursement manager.
- 3+ years as a first-line team leader with coaching/people development.
Additional Skills/Experience:
- Cross-functional training/operations/payer project experience.
- Experience with new-to-market access complexities and specialty pharmacy networks.
- Strong knowledge of commercial/private and government reimbursement (e.g., Medicare Part D, VA).
- Experience educating on benefits verification, prior authorization, appeals, denials, letters of medical necessity, pre-determinations.
- Proficient in Excel/PowerPoint; strong communication and organizational skills; ability to resolve issues virtually.
- Field-based: live in/near assigned region with access to major airport; valid driverβs license and reliable vehicle; travel up to 50%.
- Ability to perform essential in-person/onsite work and meet credentialing requirements.

- Target base pay range: $189,000.00β$246,000.00; includes cash compensation (base pay + short-term incentive) and long-term incentive (company stock).
